i still don't see how Akai would have survived being shot in the head, and punctured lungs, i mean Gin is not stupid, he can probably know if Rena was using fake bullets even if it's just a camera image, even better, he would have made sure it isn't fake bullets.

If he's alive it is literally a mockery of Gin's ability, not being able to kill a rat trapped in a cage. I mean Conan is only beating Gin (kinda) because he has an advantage of Gin not expecting a child that can go against him. We can obviously tell it would take a lot lot more to outsmart Gin (hinting at the time where Conan was stuck in a locker and Gin figured it out in an instance).

yeah but you see, when one gets shot in the head, one would not scream. If you re-watch ep. 504, you can clearly hear Akai scream right after he is shot by Kir in the head. If a person is shot in the head, doesn't that mean an instant death? Also when he's laying inside the car after he was shot, he had his right hand in his pocket as if he was hiding something there... probably to activate a blood bag to make them think he really was shot...

it was just the anime to add dramatic effects i guess, in the manga he died silently.

and now looking at the manga again, Rena's thoughts gives me even more doubts they had a plan at all.

And the gun was right on his head as well, even if Rena was using pellets it would have gone through his head anyways.

and i say he had his hands in his pockets to do something with whateva is inside, maybe a note for Rena and she took it when she placed the bomb.

but so far there's like a stack of evidence that he's dead and no evidence that he's alive at all.

P.S even if he did scream, wouldn't u think Gin would have figured what's going on already? don't take him as an idiot who watches too much scary movies.

I think he is Rena's father who is still alive.
Reason for Haibara's sense to be on/off: He has once been in the BO.
In Vol 53 - 54, Gin mentions him to be alive still and may have disguised himself

Aside from Gosho's clever name puns on Okiya Subaru, Conan-kun trusted the guy, so I think it's someone he knows, most probably Akai. He's not that stupid to say that a Holmes fan is not BO; to hell with him if he really thinks so. He must have known who the guy is after some conversations, and the could have planned it out beforehand.

And just for the record, Gin was watching the action through the pinhole camera, so some detail he might have noticed had he actually been there could have been missing due to the camera's distortion.

Also, Akai mentioned he drove past the meeting place once before he stopped, which was why Rena thought he was late; he could have dropped her a note then telling her what to do, before she turned on the camera?

I was wondering why Okiya was drinking Bourbon... well if you guys have seen ep. 509, while Okiya was bent down, after telling Conan about that Sherlock Holmes' phrase, I think Conan told him that a new BO member named Bourbon was on duty. So he decided to taste Bourbon... well that's what I think and I also believe Okiya is Akai in disguise...

In my opinion, Okiya Subaru is:

1. Akai Shuichi himself
2. The new BO member Jodie-sensei was talking about
3. Someone Shinichi knows (that he would never imagine that person would be Okiya

Let's say for example, from #3, it's one of Shinichi's parents, checking up on Conan and maybe Tokyo itself. I know that this is probably not going to be true, but who knows what Gosho Aoyama will do!  8)

This is too risky, cause there is a very high possibility for Okiya to blow Conan's cover if he stays at the Kudo's residence.
