I know I am a little TOO late making things about vol 42, but since I haven't found any topic about this (or maybe I didn't notice), it really concerns me...

We all know that in this volume Haibara has found a tape which recorded her mother's voice, and she just listened to it all day:

Aah, this reminds me back when i sneak into Gosho workplace, and read his journal..

The complete passage was :

anyway, for my absurd reasoning, it would be "I'm really vermouth", and it turns out that the child chris vineyard said she had (that was assumed to be fake) was actually shiho. And her father the mad scientist is the boss of the BO, who uses the criminal activities of the other members to fund his crazy projects. And that's why Vermouth is the favorite of the BO boss :O

....If that were the case, Akemi wouldn't be dead and Vermouth would of never gone undercover to capture Ai.

The real truth is that's really nothing, a red herring. No one starts off something important with oh, by the way unless they are trying to mask the importance and that wouldn't apply here. If the tapes feel into the hands of B.O./CIA/FBI/Interpol(with some knowledge of who made them) they would listen to every second of the tape multiple times, so masking anything wouldn't work.

My guess:
"I'm really working hard on a new drug with your father that will help people and I hope you are old enough to understand why I couldn't spend more time with you."

Actually I have the same thought with you (but just the first idea). It's like this:

Sharon Vineyard + APTX4869 = "Chris Vineyard"/Vermouth and Haibara/Shiho Miyano = REAL Chris Vineyard (Vermouth's real daughter).

And somehow "Hell Angel" (sorry, don't remember her name) has kidnapped/taken over Shiho without anyone knows. So Vermouth thought that her real daughter is dead, and wouldn't realize that Sherry is her (I don't wanna spoil anything, this is just a stupid guess  ).

So the thing Ai's mother told her was just: "I'm really not your mother", very fit with the "You're old enough to hear this..." part.

Maybe It something real simple like :

I'm really:

Missing you and wish I could be there.

Well, then it didn't need to have the: "You're old enough to hear this..." part...
