I think that he is still alive his death is a fake one.but I want to know other's opinions also so plz vote what u think about it.

Does anyone know what vol/file# Conan learns Akai Shuichi's name?

In vol 29-3 it shows his name in the standard info box but he never introduces himself to anyone so how does Conan learn his name? In vol 32-10 conan says he remembers him from the busjacking case and that his name is Akai Shuichi, but I dont think it is ever explained how he finds this out...

most likely he heard his name in the witness questoning after the incident

the one he went to alone, sending ai and the others away

But Conan does not behaves like he is really dead. At the end of chapter 621, when Eisuke tells Conan that there have been a death at the FBI, Eisuke says: "But If you haven't heard about it... then it must be allright" And Conan has his knowing expression on his face and thinks "Yeah, ..it's alright." (taken out of a scanlation, so I hope the translation is correct)

Since he knows about Akai's meeting and  the incident because Jodie-san was borrowing his cellphone for fingerprints, I don't think that he would act that way if Akai has really given his live for the covering of Mizunashi Rena. He certaily would be more angry and depressed than he actually is. So I believe that Akai have been able to use some kind of trick he and Conan already presented to Eisukes Sister in the Hospital, because they both have been expecting exactly this situation.

my thoughts exactly, i always thought conan saw far enough ahead to realize what would happen and formed a plan in secret with akai and muzunashi rena. they might have not even told the rest of the fbi about it to keep it more convincing and this whole thing is set up so rena is able to continue infiltrating the bo and akai can work secretly on taking down the bo.

I remember it was mentioned somewhere in this forum (or the Knightus cbox), but symbolically, Akai could have survived, just like Holmes did in "The Final Problem."
The place was translated as "Raiha Falls" which sound like a shortened way of saying "Reichenbach Falls" where Holmes fell to his "death" and miraculously came back 3 years later, so Akai be the "Holmes" that gets Recalled to Life(lol A Tale of Two Cities reference).

All the subtle clues are leading us on to believe he is still alive (eg. the Raiha falls, Conan's expressions, etc.)

Also, I'm not sure if Akai would be ready to die quite yet... I mean he had gone on so long to capture Gin, to avenge Akemi's death (as he knew it was his own fault).

I don't believe that Akai would die without accomplishing this. However, he could consider it done to an extent - he grazed Gin's cheek, foiled their plans like every five minutes, managed to get Rena into the BO again, etc.

Gosho might just be leading us on I mean, we all know how Aoyama Gosho is. If Unpredictable is the best word, I use it to describe him (or at least how he draws/writes Detective Conan).

I dunno. I'm sorta mixed on this. Conan's reactions seem like he's alive, but... How did he fake his death then? Gin's not easily tricked and didn't she set the car on fire after shooting him? If it was fake, would anyone be able to imitate him well enough to fool Gin? Also, I don't think Akai would have someone die in his place.
