Shrinking
It’s really unclear what the FBI knows as a whole on the concept of shrinking. Jodie clearly noticed the similarities between Haibara and the person in the photo on Vermouth’s wall, “Sherry”. However it seems like she knew that the photo was of an older person. She asks Vermouth how the two are connected and it would seem that she never got a clear answer. James Black is the first FBI agent to actually refer to Haibara as “Sherry” while talking to Jodie in the hospital in the aftermath of the shootout in the Shipyard. James gives off the impression that he knows about many things, but it’s really all speculation at this point (because even Camel has gotten more screen time than James at this point). As far as we know, Camel does not seem to know much about the hunt for Vermouth, as he was still in America, and would not have any of the information needed understand shrinking at this point. Akai has clearly figured it out though. He has had the chance to meet Shiho in person, up to 5 years ago, while she was working inside the BO. With whatever knowledge he has of that time, he seemed to come to the conclusion really quickly that Haibara is Shiho is “Sherry”. With that knowledge, upon moving in to Shinichi’s house as “Okiya Subaru”, he tried to prove that Conan was also a shrunken person. When Ran comes to the house during the paper airplane case, he literally tells her that he had searched the house for proof of Shinichi, because things like clothing and photos had been removed. Later during Yusaku’s cold case, he is finally able to prove to himself that Conan is Shinichi.

Tequila, Pisco, and Itakura Sugaru
As far as I can tell, they do not know of the events involving these characters. Conan never tells them about these events on screen, presumably because they might give away to the FBI something about shrinking. The true nature of Itakura’s program is still unknown. However I do want to note that immediately after Conan attempts to complete Itakura’s deal with the BO, that Akai was present outside the train station where the deal went down. He was also listening to the news through some headphones that state that Itakura died. We do not know if Akai actually new about any of this, but it is possible that from his time in the BO that he might have known something about Itakura.

The CIA
Information gathered by Jodie and Conan leads them to conclude that Ethan Hondou was a member of “the company”, The CIA, and was infiltrating the BO. Other information gathered by Akai, from a hobo, concluded that Ethan had been killed 4 years ago by a member of the BO once he was found to be a spy. Later it was found of that the situation was different. Mizunashi Rena was also a member of the CIA and secretly Ethan’s daughter, Hidemi. It was her job to infiltrate the BO to introduce a new CIA middle man to Ethan. However, the BO had planted a tracker and to prevent her from being found out, Ethan stages the area to look like he had been murdered by her, and then kills himself. Currently Hidemi is infiltrating the BO as a CIA agent, but also passing along messages to the FBI.

Sera Masumi
Jodie and Camel both seem to recognize her, presumably because she resembles Akai (and they both resemble their mother?). However because they both got Masumi’s gender wrong on the first try, they might not have actually met her before. James Black however, both got her gender correct, but also tried to deny knowing her. This has led some to believe that James might be the person secretly funding Masumi as she is back in Japan.

The Faked Death of Akai Shuuichi
Both Jodie and Camel remained fooled until the end, when Akai literally appeared in the back of their car during Scarlet Arc. James however, happened to meet with Akai as he was leaving to go meet with Kir and noticed that Akai had glue on his hands and that something was amiss. He was able to keep this a secret from the rest of the FBI.

RUM
At this point, all Jodie and Camel know is that an agent called “Rum” is on the move and that he is even more important than Gin. It is very probable that Akai knows more than he told them.

Quick question about Akai's "tears of blood" quote. Is he referring to Akemi or Gin here? It doesn't really make sense if it's Akemi, does it? I thought perhaps it was Gin because Akai refers to him as "Koibito-kun", which is also the same word he uses when he says the above quote to James Black. Or is this just a "threatening-like" quote to make the readers think that Akai was a bad guy?

It is Gin he was referring to, and after that he shot him right under his eye, so I guess that's what he meant when he said "tears of blood".

That's correct. The "rejecting" he was talking about was Gin not showing up at the trap the FBI set up when Camel wrecked it, and yes, the evil expression was to fool the reader into thinking he was a bad guy.

People kept saying it was Gin at one point because of the later sniper match where he shoots Gin, which is why I listed it that way above

but when I originally read it for the first time, forever ago, I always thought it was meant to be directed at Vermouth
Since, even all the way up to the end of the Vermouth arc in the series, the only BO member that Akai seemed to want to
attack was Vermouth. I had figured that he meant that as a reference to him chasing Vermouth in NY and then following her
to Japan with plans to capture her by any means necessary, even if it meant making her bleed, especially if it meant making her bleed.
Culminating in his comment to Vermouth about how her face was bleeding, after he shot at her, and that meant that it was her
original face.

Outside of the "Girlfriend crying tears of blood" comment, can anyone tell me which chapters Akai refers to Gin as "Koibito-kun" ?

When you said "girlfriend" you are referring to a mistranslation. It's always supposed to be a generic beloved. He calls Gin "koibito" again right after he grazes him under the eye. There is a clear connection. It had nothing to do with the NY case. He was in New York at the time, and they were trying to kill him because Camel inadvertently outed him as a spy.

I've only heard Akai call "Koibito" twice - once when he makes the above comment and then right after he shoots Gin in the eye. It's chapter 506/Episode 425. Of course, since I've only read the English scanlations it was lost in translation and it didn't mean much, but I was interested when I watched the anime and Akai used the same word twice. Also, Akai calls him "Koibito-san" and not -kun, my mistake.

In 425, Akai specifically uses "koibito" to refer to Gin. I have no reason to doubt the same is true of 259, and when I subbed it, I handled it accordingly (Viz did quite well with this, btw, and I used their wording exactly).

Originally I never caught that he used the same word.
Now that I have gone to find the Japanese scans I can see that.
Interestingly enough, Gosho used different kanji the second time, the kanji for the second time mean "old enemy" or something

When I was reading through to make this thread, I was avoiding the anime because of possible small differences. I stopped purchasing the VIZ volumes at v36 because I needed the money to buy the japanese volumes, so I wouldn't have seen how it was phrased in those instances in Englsih.

I had already taken people's word for it when they had told me originally that it was meant to be about Gin, which is why I had it put that way in the original post, and then used the phrase "but when I originally read it for the first time, forever ago," in my response. The reason I said "girlfriend" was because that is how it is phrased in the scans I was reading. Technically its not a mistranslation because at that time there is no way that the translator could have known that it was referring to Gin because it was said in an arc that focused on the silent battle between Jodie and Vermouth, who are both women and they would not have known whether it was meant to refer to one of them. Also changing the word "lover" to "girlfriend" is more of a stylistic translation, and this just happens to be one of those cases where it actually effected the meaning of something. People would be surprised on how often stylistic translation has to play a role to make something sound coherent in English.

This is the wording in my release, which I took from Viz:

James: "Well?
You called me all the way out here.
Does that mean you're back on good terms with your so-called sweetheart?"
Akai: "Here's hoping.
After rejecting me like that...
I'll make my sweetie pay...
with tears of blood."
