English translation of pages 3-11 & 14 of File 888:
Spoiler:
File 888 title: The tense tea party

p.3

Kogoro: Hm?

Kogoro: A message?

[Letter: ): I went to the hospital. You could at least have your cell phone turned on. -Ran]

Kogoro (reads): I went to the hospital.

Kogoro (reads): You could at least have your cell phone turned on. Ran …

Kogoro: Oops …

Kogoro: I had it turned off …

Kogoro: Argh!

Kogoro: 34 missed calls and 16 text messages?!

Kogoro: Wha?!

Kogoro: What?!

[Cell phone:] Mom’s condition worsened and will have to undergo an operation immediately. Come asap!! –Ran

p.4

Kogoro (thoughts): Eri!

Kogoro (thoughts): Eri!

Kogoro (thoughts): Eri!!

Kogoro (thoughts): Eri!!

[Sign:] Mouri Eri

Kogoro: Eriiii!!

p.5

Eri: Why are you shouting?

Kogoro: Why, you ask …

Kogoro: Because, the operation …

Eri: For the appendicitis …

Eri: The operation is already over and I just woke up …

Kogoro: Geez, it was just the appendix ...

Ran: It’s not geez!

Ran: Where were you and with your cell phone shut off?!

Eri: It was probably horse racing, mahjong or pachinko anyway, am I right?

Kogoro: I-Idiot ...

Kogoro: I was actually working ...

Conan: Pachinko, I’d say ...

Kogoro: eh?

Conan: Because your clothes ...

p.6

Conan: There’s a strange wrinkle in your jacket at the back ...

Conan: That means that you were sitting for a long time, doesn’t it?

Conan: And you probably turned your phone off because you were somewhere where it’s very loud and you wouldn’t hear it ringing even if it were turned on.

Conan: Seeing how you don’t ever put your phone on vibrate mode since you don’t like the way it feels ...

Conan: And look here!

Conan: Between your shoe laces ...

Conan: There’s a pachinko ball ...

Conan: So you must have been in a pachinko parlor!

Ran: That was amazing, Conan-kun!

Conan: There happened to be a very similar detective show on TV recently ...

Eri: I see. So you were having fun a the pachinko parlor while I was in a pinch ...

Kogoro: I was only intending to kill a bit of time, but Lady Luck seemed to be on my side ...

p.7

Kogoro: So you should also give it your best ...

Kogoro: And get out of here soon!

Eri: ...................

Kogoro: Ah, you know?

Kogoro: They say that with the appendix they let you go once you pass gas ...

Eri: I hope you aren’t thinking that you made some sort of witty remark right now ...

Kogoro: I do think I outdid even myself there ...

Eri: Get out!

Kogoro: Geez, after I came here because I was worried about her ...

Kogoro: She gets into a huff like that ...

Amuro: Oh? If it isn’t Mouri-sensei ...

p.8

Amuro: What are you doing?

Conan (thinking): B-Bourbon?!

Amuro: Are you feeling unwell?

Kogoro: My wife is ...

Conan (thinking): W-Why?! Why is a member of the Black Organization here in the Haido Central Hospital?!

Conan (thinking): It can’t be ...

Conan (thinking): It can’t be ...

Conan (thinking): It can’t be ...

Kogoro: Why are you here?

Amuro: I heard that a friend of mine was hospitalized here and came to visit him ... But it seems like he suddenly disappeared ...

Amuro: I heard from the nurses that you came here before, Conan-kun ...

Amuro: Maybe you know him?

p.9

Amuro: A man called Kusuda Rikumichi ...

Conan: Who’s that?

Conan: I don’t know him.

Amuro: The truth is that I lent him some money and would like to get it back ...

Amuro: Are you sure you don’t know him?

Conan: I am.

Amuro: You’re amazing ...

Conan (thoughts): Eh?

Amuro: Excuse me ...

Amuro: Do you know a patient by the name of Kusuda Rikumichi?

p.10

Beppu Katsuki: Not sure ... What kind of person is he?

Beppu Katsuki: How old?

Happou Tokie: Do you have a photo?

Amuro: Ah!

Amuro: Never mind ...

Amuro: How about you, Mouri-sensei?

Amuro: If I gave you a name out of nowhere and asked you whether you knew that person ...

Kogoro: Well, I guess I’d react like those women just now ...

Amuro: That’s right ... Most people don’t have absolute confidence in their memory ...

Amuro: So instead of saying no, they ask for further information about the person in question ...

Amuro: But you’re amazing. Being sure that you don’t know the person based on their name alone ...

Conan: ....................

Kogoro: Don’t just believe what that brat tells you ... there’s a ton of people whose names you don’t know even though you’ve met them ...

Kogoro: And there’s people you only know by their nicknames as well ...

Kid: 3!

Kid: 2!

Kid: 1 ...

p.11

[SFX bubble:] *ding*

Kid: Zero!!

Conan (thoughts): Eh?

Kid: Mom! The elevator’s here!

Kogoro: Is something the matter?

Amuro: Ah, no ...

Amuro: My nickname used to be Zero, so I thought someone had called me ...

Kogoro: Why Zero? Your name is Tooru*, if I recall correctly ...

[*TN: Tooru means to pass through/go through]

Amuro: Because I can be seen through, so there’s nothing there ... In other words zero ...

Amuro: Nicknames made up by kids ...

Amuro: Are by and large like that ...

Conan: ..................

[...]

p.14

Amuro: I see ... your wife had an emergency operation for appendicitis ...

Kogoro: Yeah, I hurried here for nothing ...

Amuro: However, in the case of the appendix it can become dangerous if you just let it slide ...

Conan: ............

Conan (thoughts): He ...

Conan (thoughts): Could it be ...

[...]

Ohhh, alright. That makes sense. *secretly wishes to be a part of this secret-leaking group*
I saw the translation and was weirded out when I couldn't find the associated file anywhere on the internet. ^^'

I'll readily admit I'm excited for this arc, all things considered. Seems the great detective has been none too subtle and it's about to bite him in the butt...

Yup. Bourbon's obviously been suspicious for a while, but only now does he seem to be letting Conan know that he knows. As far as whether or not he'll act on it during this arc, guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Though, to go into more detail, it seems as though Amuro is an incredibly patient character. He's also meticulous, intelligent, cunning, and fond of psychological ploys.
Spoiler:
Him doing that trick of asking if Conan knew Kusada, then asking random women, then pointing out the discrepancy is rather... interesting. It's both him going "I know you know something and your outright denial is more damning than asking about what he looks like" and him trying to shake up Conan by noting the chinks in his armor, so to speak. Before, he'd just observed. Now he's pointing out a certain flaw in Conan's act, possibly because shaking up Conan could lead to him revealing more and more information. Conan, though bits and bits of information are being revealed to Bourbon, is still pretty damn tight-lipped and paranoid.

Bourbon looking into Kusada's death means he's suspicious of what happened to Akai. It's interesting how the thread of cause and effect happened to cause this scenario.

He's looking into Akai's death because he saw Akai on the train. Akai revealed himself on the train and was seen by Bourbon in order to give KID a sort of out because of how Bourbon wanted to take KID!Shiho into custody and that would bring the ruse to protect Ai to a screeching halt, along with getting KID killed. KID was only in that sort of danger because he was blackmailed into dressing as Shiho because of last minute changes to Conan's plans that he'd made up on the spot. They were only in danger because they didn't do the sensible thing and call in a bomb threat or something to prevent the mystery train mess from happening. Meanwhile, the only reason that the Organization thought the mystery train was a viable thing was because Haibara had to take the antidote to rescue the Detective Boys, the ring she was wearing wouldn't come off, and Mitsuhiko took video of Shiho. They were only in danger that resulted in that need to take the antidote because they witnessed a murderer hiding a body, who then trapped them in a cabin and lit it on fire. They witnessed it because of being on a camping trip.

Thus this all started because of a ring for a mystery train tour and a camping trip.

Very "the kingdom was lost all for the want of a horseshoe nail," no?

Spoiler:
While I am also excited, I feel we can't foul Conan for this one. Its all thanks to Gosho nerfing Jodie's intellect during file 851 where she basically handed Bourbon Conan on a silver platter. While we know Bourbon has been interested in Conan for awhile, it wasn't until Jodie confirmed to Bourbon indirectly, that Conan not only is working with the FBI, he was the one who took care of Kusuda Rikumichi.

What has me curious is during the Bourbon introduction arc we discovered Bourbon is a new agent recently activated according to Gin. This is further confirmed during the "Detectives' Nocturne" in both anime and manga when Vermouth mentions he has gained their trust for now. However later on we find out during the mystery train he also knows the boss' identity, which makes him a pretty important agent. He is embedded with Ran and Kogoro and currently has enough information to order the deaths of all of Conan's loved ones with a phone call as Gin wanted to kill Conan and Kogoro for knowing less during episode 425. It will be interesting to see how Conan takes him out of play this arc, because at this point unless Gosho turns Bourbon good, he holds too many cards to simply let go.

Spoiler:
for starters, I'm glad we get to see Eri again. I really don't get Kogorou sometimes. First he is super worried that his wife might have some serious condition but then he has to make those remarks.

As for Conan, Amuro had him with that surprise attack and by asking the 2 women he just told Conan that he knows about his involvement in the Rikumichi case. But it looks Amuro is weak to surprise attacks too and I wonder who and when called him "Zero".
Opposed to Gin who would've killed Conan and anyone connected to him by now, Amuro is waiting for more info regarding Rikumichi and Akai.

I think we would need more information on Bourbon's past and his beliefs in order to determine his fate. I don't think he'll be killed off like Pisco, because he's had so much development and has already gained so much popularity with fans. That would just be unacceptable. Right now, from what I can tell, he's either an amazing actor or he actually seems to have some good inside of him. Kind of like Vermouth, you know? He's not very likely to switch sides though, as he's in the same position as Vermouth: close to the boss, but still showing compassion for the other side (from what I can tell). What would switching sides mean anyway? It doesn't change the fact he's been deeply involved with a criminal organization and he'd still be punished for his actions, regardless of any of his intentions. So...what will happen to him is kind of up in the air at the moment.

Also, you are very right in what you said: if things are to continue like before, he'd need to be taken out of play somehow. That is...IF things are to even continue after this arc. Heh. It's not something we long-time Conan fans like to think about, but it's going to happen one day. And with the way this arc is going, with so many crucial plot elements converging, it's definitely possible.

Spoiler:
His reaction on "Zero" bothers me.
I was thinking:
1. "Zero" is like "Sera" and that could mean that he meets Sera and that may be the middle brother, also said that nicknames are made by children and if he were his brother in infancy had spent time together and Sera could have put this nickname. But the problem is that I doubt Bourboun want to kill his brother. És illogical. Theory deleted.
2. "Zero" could be the nickname given to him by Date Wataru when he was alive and were partners in the training of police officers. But when he says that nicknames are made by children eliminates the theory.
3. If what he says after his reaction to "Zero" is a lie it could be the countdown to a bomb. But it would have reacted earlier, at the beginning of the countdown. Theory deleted.
4. If what he says after his reaction to "Zero" is a lie it could be someone in the elevator, Vermouth for example, and does not want discovered.
Conan knows something because at the end says "Could it be ...". He knows something that we have not been able to see. Uffff I do not understand, maybe it will be new information about the past of Amuro.
