*MANGA ON HIATUS*
Was eating, eating, eating, and died.
My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

Spoiler:
I do have to say though that the part about the lady that yusaku wrote an autograph to happens to be the daughter of the couple who ran away years ago was unbelievably stupid

The reprinted case is apparently from files: 570-573 (Kudo Shinichi's Childhood Adventure). So... at the earliest, we might get a new file in the 8th of July.
Let's hope Gosho is generous enough to throw relevant Animal Crossing hints at us throughout this month or something.

Because staying in the library is more fun than staying with your Mom in an office, while she's doing paperwork with a guardian, even if you maybe already know some of the books from home.

Finished reading the whole case. Was very very painful.

I really don't understand Yusaku's logic. A fan had a similar surname, wasn't local and reacted to one of the lines. How does one jump to the conclusion that this person ran away from home and might be related to the case? Like, yeah he reached the correct conclusion, but his method of reaching that conclusion seems pretty contrived.

Gosho can't write children very well. :V Well, maybe not normal children (Looking at you Yaiba- I mean...).
I agree with Kor... Yuusaku just somehow came up with that and said, "Yup, got I idea from my kid which triggered my memory of this random girl who happened to have the same name as you so she's probably your daughter." What? :V
Ending was corny and I want to say it feels like Gosho kinda just ran out of room/time, but this happens a lot so I dunno anymore >_>

My favorite parts in this case include: Shin'ichi before he meets Ran, Yuusaku, and Kogoro at the very end behind the pole :D
Everything else was blah.

Also doesn't the end contradict the "Shin'ichi fell in love with Ran in middle school" thing? Or was that not official? >_> Or am I just confusing everyone including myself again?

I think you mean Ran, but yes, she thinks to herself at the end of the NY flashback case that that's when she first realized she loved him.

I didn't have any problems with the conclusion—it was believable enough.

I enjoyed the story, overall, though I'm certainly not oblivious to the criticisms leveled at it—but they're just not enough to derail my enjoyment of the experience.

Shinichi performed an act of genuine kindness—one I, at least, found quite touching.

If you found this story not to your liking, then think of it this way—odds are very low that a story like this will come up, again. I'm going to guess that were going to get a plot-related case, once the break is over—feel free to quote this if it turns out I'm wrong.
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Define "plot related".
Also, I'm not sure about that first thing you wrote. Just a bit over a year ago, we also had a flashback long case with Shinichi/Ran in an aquarium. Moreover, there's still Sera's past encounter with Shinichi and Ran to be told, and since it's hinted it had a case in it (and Sera also seemed to praise the oh so godly Shinichi), we might see yet another case-long flashback soon. I don't want to call this a trend yet, but I dread the thought of DC starting to go for long unnecessary flashbacks.

"Plot-related" as in "who is Rum/Rum suspicion" cases (Kuroda, etc.). And I'm talking about flashbacks to them as preschoolers—I'm not saying there won't be anymore flashbacks. I was just saying that since people like you really didn't like the characters, especially Shinichi, as preschoolers, that you'd be relieved that this will, in all probability, be the last preschooler case.

I'd hesitate to call the Shinichi/Ran/Masumi flashback unnecessary until it, after analysis, fails to contribute to the plot or to the characters. You may not like the Akai family playing such a large role in the plot, but that's the direction in which Gosho seems to be heading, and the Shinichi/Ran/Masumi flashback will likely play a part in that.

Since im a ShinRan shipper, i liked this files, although i have to admit it: i don't buy Shinichi's mature attitud. I know he has always been more mature and it's ok if he can read at such a young age, but his whole attitude, with hands on his pockets and all is just too much. I agree with Jecka; Gosho cannot write children well. i just wanted to see a little different Shnichi and Ran. Like "Oh so Shin was like this when he was a chid!" but no, more of the same :-\

Also, it was kind of predictable, but i like that Shinichi kinda loved Ran since the first time. Typical ShinRan love plot.

Well, i assume you are more into the BO plot? (just guessing). To be honest, i think Gosho has been quite irregular and messy with the whole story. When Sera appeared, like three years ago, i was like "why is Gosho putting more and more characters?! is like instead of going forward with the main plot, he is lengthen it with more storys. i mean, if im right, Gosho said in an interview that Sera doesn't even know about the BO. Of course i think her own story will fit with the BO plot, but still, he is taking so long wth the main plot. 21 years of DC and we still don't have any consistent clue about the BO and Anokata. So yes, i can get when someone find this falshbacks unnecesay.

However, in his very messy way, Gosho try to develop the characters in their many sides, specially the romantic one, so i don't think this kind of storys are a waste, they surely aren't as important to the BO plot, but romances are always been part of the story. I say this because so many people seems to look down on the romantic plots, which is unfair because DC is not only BO plot nor random cases,(Gosho's messy way of development allow this too) so i don't see the problem when Gosho cames up with this storys.

(sorry for my english!)

No, I meant Shinichi. Ran realized it in their first year of high school (aka last year, prior to the beginning of the plot). Shinichi realized it sometime in middle school.
