Spoiler:
Well It's not necessary that his name is actually Shinichi wada* Meh?! I meant there must be some reason for him to name himself just like shinichi. What if he is yusaku's brother or someone who knows about him and is send to japan/was in japan to help conan out. I could be anything btw!

I believe it's more likely that his parents named him that. It's a common name... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin'ichi

Spoiler:
I agree with what someone stated earlier! He gives an Ethan Hondou kind of vibe, maybe not him but his brother or someone related. He may have a connection as papa akai (which I always feel him and Hondou are connected), but his visuals alone (ATLEAST) give a mysterious agent of a government organisation kind of feeling.

Shuuichi has stated that his father was not FBI. Who says he cant be MI6 or CIA, reinforcing ties of Mary with MI6. Someone from MI6 would have strong ties to the crown, Gosho would not just randomly drop British fact bombs without meaning anything.
I started reading Detective Conan as a kid, I loved every part of it even when I didn't understand the science or logic behind a case. Now as an adult, it's bitter sweet knowing the series has lasted this long, because I am still surprised at what Gosho has to offer but sad knowing soon a big part of my life will come to an end. I'm glad to know there are people out there who love this series as much as I do and is willing to lose sleep just to discuss the intricate plot.

Spoiler:
The character design of Shinichi Wada, especially the curly hair and the eyes, they seem to remind me of some character, but I can't place a finger on it. Scotch, maybe? Although Scotch was shown to have straight hair. But someone related to him could have curly hair, so, IDK. This new character is interesting, really. However, we need more info before jumping to conclusions
Also, what is up with those earphones? He hasn't once taken them off. Was he was in communication with someone the entire time?

Here is just one of the spoiler pics for 982. If I'm not mistaken, the Mystery Man introduces himself to Takagi as "Shinichi Wada" ("私は 和田進一..." - "I am/My name is Shinichi Wada..."), though the name is written with the Kanji for "Progress" instead of the one for "New" as it is with out Shinichi. However, "Wada" is written the same way as it was written for Hina Wada, the 17 year old karate club member and friend of Ran from Haido High School, who appeared in File 942-944, the UFO case with Chiba. Also, according to his introduction he is some sort of "medical personnel" (医療関係者). Conan takes note of that of course, and Heiji makes some sort of joke with almost telling Conans identity or something.

Translation of File 982 text spoilers

Break next week (magazine break)
Spoiler:
File 982: Meeting at Café Poirot

The man (the childhood friend) has been stabbed by a knife from behind: Heiji assumed he died at once but he's still alive.

Only Conan and Heiji have splattered blood on them. Kazuha rings Heiji up and he invents that they're filming a really scary movie as a pretense to keep her and Ran away from the café.

Megure & co., having been called, come into the café and get told what's happened. The notebook pc's plug had a needle attached to it which triggered the blackout. It'd seem the stabbed man had been poking his nose into women's affairs. There are rumors that his father, a lawyer, was pulling some strings behind the scenes so this had earned the man several enemies.

The student who was in the toilet is suspected as well but Amuro argues that he couldn't have done it. The security cameras of the store show how he hasn't come out of the toilets until the man got stabbed. Also, the toilet's door has a rubbed glass window so he couldn't check out who was setting where through that window.

Takagi inspects the belongings of the students:

The student: a room's key, tobacco, a ligther, a wallet, a cellphone, a necklace he wanted to give to his girlfriend
The girlfriend: a handkerchief, tissues, make-up tools, a room's key, a wallet
The friend: medicine for the eyes, a wallet, a cellphone, gloves he wanted to give to the girlfriend

The students argue that maybe it was the work of an outsider but the mysterious customer argues back that no-one else came in. The police ask him his name and he introduces himself as Wada Shinichi, medical personnel.

In the meanwhile, Conan and Hattori think of a trick to get rid of the blood splatter but they can't narrow down who could've employed it. Conan suddenly asks something to the girlfriend.

Conan: "That childhood friend who got stabbed was more than a childhood friend, no?"

They try to ask details out of her but she refuses to explain.

Girlfriend: "It's a secret to protect someone so... When I was about your age, boy, I thought that there were no secrets amongst us, though"

Conan (thinking): "Well, I'm also stuffed with secrets too..."

Heiji, who's more concerned about Kazuha than the case, tries to ask Conan in a whisper about the Ginza district illumination. Wada clears his throat and says something.

Wada: "The sleepiness of the moon's shadow that leaks out constantly from the clouds that pile up on the autumn's wind"

He's reciting a poem of the "Hyakunin Isumi" (an old Japanese poem anthology)

Amuro (thinking): "I see..."
Heiji (thinking): "So that's how it is..."
Conan (thinking): "I've seen through all of the tricks!"

Side-note: "An ancient song provides a hint!? Next issue, the resolution!"

Movie 21, anyone?
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Spoiler:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think males using 'Watashi' is very uncommon. From what little I've read/watched, men are likely to use 'Watashi' than 'Ore', since the latter is not very formal.

However...
Spoiler:
Rum in M20 also uses 'Watashi' instead of 'Boku' or 'Ore'. Make of that what you will.

Watashi is a neutral formal way of saying I/me. So it's still gender neutral.

Yeah. Doesn't mean anything in particular. It's all up to one's personality and if they're the type to watch out for manners or not (at least in manga standards, I guess).
