I honestly don't care about who the boss is anymore, I only want him/her to be amazing characters in terms of goals, backstory, and the reason why he/she did this, Gosho can learn a thing or 2 from Urasawa's Monster and 20th Century Boys.

So this is my first post over here.. Konichiwa minnasan! Now let me start *ahem*

OK fine. So from what I see many people are saying that Ai might be extremly shocked to find out who Anokata is.

SO has no one even CONSIDERED the fact that it might be AKEMI MIYANO??!!! >:D ???

I MEAN I LOOOOVVVEE AKEMI ;D !!! She is like my FAVORITIST character ever! And if she actually turns out to be boss.. I dunno if I would rejoice that she is alive .. or be sad that she is actually evil.. :P :-\

Of course if she were Anokata I dont think that Conan would still be alive.. But then again like Vermouth she might also be facinated by him.. ( Well Vermouth likes him because he saved her life .. but still.. conan has that charm of just charming people..hehe)

I dunno.. this theory might have a lot of loopholes.. But I just want Akemi to be alive :D .. As one of the GOOD GUYS and kick some ass! ::) ^-^

Aside from the fact that it is pretty much impossible that Akemi is still alive, I think that it was Startold who posted that the "Haibara will be shocked" fact came from a third-party NA textbook for Case Closed and Gosho said nothing similar in interviews.

Yes. The thing that started this rumor is the Case Closed Casebook, an unauthorized book about Case Closed. Page 83 says the following:
The only other hint Aoyama has given so far is that 'It's someone Haibara would have never expected.'

I'm not saying that Aoyama never said that, but from all the interviews I've read, in Japanese or in English, I never found this information. Fans have been looking for it since 2008, and no one has found any trace of that interview yet.

well if anyone wanted to dig through a list of untranslated interviews, there are a lot of them (at least 20)

I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

I was wondering....

Ano Kata...

Matching all expectations with the current hints.. Forward thinker... Will fend off haibara's sense... Will definitely surprise conan and haibara. Been in the earlier days of Detective Conan... Has cameo'd atleast once (actually its like 2 - 3 times). Good at password and puzzles. Loves liquer... and apparently young girls... It only matched one guy. One possible Ano Kata in the process of elimination....

One guy called 'sherlock holmes of japan' (actually self proclaimed, but the title shows as Legendary Great Detective). The same title shinichi kudo holds (modern holmes referring to modern holmes of japan). Appears in episode 67 (a TV original sadly(thus refers to appear 'somewhere')). Mentor of Kogoro Mouri, even shinichi seem's to know him and respects his skills greatly.

He is wearing black cloak too.

Very forward thinker, solves the case way faster than shinichi(Conan in this case).

平 八 郎 塩 田
HEI-HA-CHI-RO SHI-O-TA
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
烏 な ぜ 啼 く の
Ka ra su na ze na ku
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Fits well.. (Presumption (Please try saying it with the tune))

He is a pervert. (I guess that would make Vermouth his favorite).

Also someone Gin would respect. (if he is serious)

Appears in 3rd season, please guess why I did not say 3 months >:D

He is also a Division 1, Detective of Tokyo Metropolitant Police.

Yes.

What do you mean with that? Will she smell him or won't she? Anyway, I don't recall that ever being a hint.
sircrow wrote: Will definitely surprise conan and haibara. Been in the earlier days of Detective Conan...
The "will surprise Haibara" hint came from an unofficial source, it's not clear if Gosho ever said that in any other interview. "Surprise Conan" has never been a hint about the boss afaik.
sircrow wrote:Loves liquer... and apparently young girls...
We don't know if the Boss loves liquor. Just because he gives his agents alcohol codenames, doesn't mean he loves them (he doesn't have an alcoholic codename himself according to Gosho). And why do you think he likes young girls? Vermouth is pretty much the opposite of young.

Here is where that theory falls completely apart. The Boss is said to have appeared somewhere in the manga, not just somewhere in general. It's 100% impossible for an AO character, that has never appeared in the manga, to be Ano Kata.

Especially considering that he's going to appear even less than he already did, due to recent events.

I think vermouth is probably the boss's daughter . Because she knows a lot about him/her. The boss in return gives her freedom the way a father would give his daughter what she wants. And vermouth is also is the boss's favorite even though she's not skilled as some other members. And I dont think the boss is either vermouth, agasa, haibara, Conan, akemi, elena, or atsushi miyano. To me the boss might be randy hoke( mentioned in vol32 ch8) after all he's american( like vermouth) , he looks like James black, and not a lot is known about him. I mean , if you think about , all what i said actually make sense !

Has Gosho ever outright stated that the boss isn't the serial killer Kiichiro Numabuchi?

Probably not. I can't see him being the boss, though.
