My theory: He is Kohjis brother or son, who actually wants to Kogoro Mori, who maybe can solve the murder 17 years ago. And he is also the person who uplouds the informations about the case and the one the hired the Soul Detective (forgot the name).

Here is just one of the spoiler pics for 982. If I'm not mistaken, the Mystery Man introduces himself to Takagi as "Shinichi Wada" ("私は 和田進一..." - "I am/My name is Shinichi Wada..."), though the name is written with the Kanji for "Progress" instead of the one for "New" as it is with out Shinichi. However, "Wada" is written the same way as it was written for Hina Wada, the 17 year old karate club member and friend of Ran from Haido High School, who appeared in File 942-944, the UFO case with Chiba. Also, according to his introduction he is some sort of "medical personnel" (医療関係者). Conan takes note of that of course, and Heiji makes some sort of joke with almost telling Conans identity or something.

Amuro and even Takagi had enough intel to figure it out before already, suddenly kickstarting it now through one of the usual Heiji name comedy scenes would feel extremely cheap and lazy. They don't and shouldn't need something like that if Gosho really wants them to figure out the identity. One page of internal monologue going over what they already know would be enough.

While Amuro has much more reasons to suspect Conan who he really is (after all Akai said to him that he worked out his identity because he told Conan that his nickname was Zero + that whole scene with "get out of my Japan"), Takagi just knows that Conan is a bit more smarter kid. Amuro probably knows the side effects of APTX too, so after hearing "your name is Shinichi too" (and we know Amuro already visited Shinichi's house too, so he knows well who Shinichi is), Heiji's words will be just a proof to him he searched for. Takagi as well might not know who Shinichi is, but he might start thinking what is the real name of Conan, and then find out that he has much more secrets. Takagi cannot possibly think that Conan is just a shrunked Shinichi, because shrunking isn't something that happens everyday, so he needs something that will spark his interests.

Meh, honestly I still don't like the whole "serious progress through unserious comedy scenes that happened a million times before already" kind of deal. Feels a bit too forced imo, there'd be better ways. Well, for Amuro anyway, since Gosho abandoned the whole Takagi suspicion thing.

Gosho himself has stated that Wataru has no suspicions about Shinichi/Conan. So that's not happening.

We have no idea what Rei/Toru knows about APTX—yes, we can assume, given he knows Vermouth's relationship to the boss, that he knows something, but Gosho has yet to officially reveal to us what Rei/Toru knows about APTX.

it's not the first time that we have a person named shinichi but with different kanji also in a heiji case can this be a hint to anything !!
The new character is cool xD xD I don't think he is a bad guy he seemed to me like another amuro or akai
