From his actions, you could say the he doesn't treat Conan as a normal child

I wonder the opposite: why hasn't anyone (except Hakuba) figured out that KID = Kaito Kuroba yet? I mean, isn't it obvious? --> KID shows his real face on his missions and it's not hard to get a glimpse or photograph him. If not, there's still his real voice!

I agree, Nakamori needs a whack or eighteen over the head for not figuring this out since Kaito Kuroba is his daughter's childhood friend / boyfriend. I know Nakamori is looking for a middle aged person since he still thinks the Kid played by Kuroba Toichi and the current one are the same person but still. There are already good quality pictures of him that are in the newspaper. (I forget which manga chapter) His monocle isn't tinted or anything. It's silly.

in movie 3, kaitou kid knew conan was shinichi, but it wasn't the case in the original story (what i mean is in the manga).  how kaitou kid, that we dont know. this is what i believe: kaitou kid could realise that conan might not who he appeared to be, an ordinary elementary kid. he wasnt stupid, he could sense an intelligence in conan as he had been there when conan did his deduction. he kept that information to himself was because conan didnt concern him. sure kid was a thief, and conan played the detective part, but he kept a mutual relation with conan as long as the two didnt interfere with one and another. by means that conan's one of the goal was to put the criminals, kaitou kid included, behind bars, and that was that.

i could answer all your answers, but that was just my analysis:
the current kaitou kid wasnt the original kaitou kid. the original kid was dead 8 yrs ago, and it was his son he followed his footstep to become a kaitou kid. the reason why the son did this was because he knew his dad wasnt died from a harmless accident. his father had been murder during his heist. the book didnt say anything about the original kid was killed by the bo, not in the conan comic, nor in the kaitou kid's, but was mere an assumption by me. the syndicate in kid's comic also dressed in black.

in kid's comic, it did mentioned that the original kid was dead, killed by a group who seek the gem of immortality. this gem, as the syndicate believed, would reflected a precious stone from within if the gem was shone through moonlight, and a person would extend his or her life if he or she drank a drop from the liquid or something i couldnt remember. that i need to recheck the information; but anyways, back to the syndicate in black,  they needed that gem for immortality. that couldnt be just that now, could it? they need to testify that gem, and in order to do so, they need an experiment. and that leads (me) to conan.

in conan's comic, there was a syndicate, and i believe they are one of the same only their positions were different. the one in kid's comic, they were more of a group of lackeys, while in conan's, they were more superior, with gin, that anokata (literally mean "that person" in formal expression) and everything else. now, remember the case about conan confronted vodka in file 37-38? the one with the clue left with 3 different chesses, the diary about the bo? there was a phrase saying: "we could be both the god and the devil..." and something about the stream of time? that was what the gem was about, in my opinions. they needed a guinea pig, so they had all the professionals working with them, and ai (shiho) was one of them. she created this drug that was supposed to kill, and somehow it didnt work on her and shinichi (who was now conan). the bo, i meant the organisation that gin and vodka were in, wasnt aware of the particular flaw. at least seem to me, they didnt. to apply that quoting, the bo needed something to revive the dead so they could be the god. that lead (me) back to the gem that the syndicate in kaitou kid's book. with conan's killing drug and kid's gem of immortality, the black syndicate could be both the god and the devil. they would mess the time stream, raise the dead, and put a person to die.

the stories for conan and kid, didnt cross to each other. in conan, kaitou kid did appeared; however, not for kid's case. i have read both comics, and the more i thought about it, my analysis did make sense. to other people, they might think differently.

which side you are at, it's your choice. i just stating what my thought was. oh, and i hope that clear your confusion.

I've read "Magic Kaito" so KID's background isn't strange to me.

Another point about KID:
The police all think he's a wanted criminal (Conan doesn't seem to think so probably b/c he knew KID's true goal, which is to return the stolen items to their true masters and to seek out his dad's murderers. Conan doesn't know the latter, though).
What I'm wondering is: it doesn't look like the police ever put real efforts into capturing KID. They knew his tricks, his styles... but at times they still chased after the flying KID by cars

Moreover, when KID appeared recently, the common people got involved by cheering him on with an air of over-vehemence. They were a really happy people with abundant time and energy in their hands .  Such commotion may be due to Gosho's preference for KID but it didn't seem right: KID is a thief after all, which gives them no reason to support him, neh? Because of the crowds, KID's recent missions looked like magic performances rather than mayhems, like neither the onlookers or KID was serious

haha, it's like saying why didn't the characters in Harry Potter stock up on time turners before they were destroyed and just go back in time every time someone died. It wouldn't make for good manga/anime/movie.

Even if Kid DID know that Conan was Shiniichi, I don't see Kid really caring about it. He doesn't know Conan OR Shiniichi outside of um, "work." To him, Conan and Shiniichi merely represent detectives who are fun to play with.

Oh, and concerning someones comment before about why the public seems to love Kid. It's because Kid generally gives the items he steals BACK after about a month or so. That, and his thefts tend to be flashy as hell, so it makes for good entertainment  . A "No harm, no foul" sorta thing.

I thought Conan told him indirectly, that he's Shinichi on the first big Kid case with the black pearl. He told it to Kid, who was disguised as Ran, that he is actually Shinichi... or is my memory somehow wrong about that?

edit: I reread that file and it seems I have been mistaken...

But I think in the anime, he did. In a way, I think.

BTW. Topic creator. By now almost everyone in DC treat Conan as very sharp child. Kid just one of the first that notice. But not all of them know Conan is Kudo.

The stun darts have been attempted and have failed as well. This doesn't include attempts that are movie canon only. Conan kicking stuff at him with his kick enhancing shoes seems to have the best results (if only because of how funny the results tend to be).
