This is what I think might have happened. First Runi did some major diving need the rock, then the killer and her partied down (drink alot)

Those two things would be deplete water from her body also the vomit from the morning hang over. but importaint is that she drank no water except for maybe salt water, and this the time to dehydrate was reduced.

Or maybe her tank has a few amount of oxygen and she'd be suffocated in the water, then she'd be unconscious. When she wakes up, she's alone in the island :P

Translations are done, and the culprit is revealed:

...don't read this if you don't feel like it :P
Spoiler:
Well, it's Aosato Shuuhei, the one w/a bandage on his lip
It's about stripping off the "sakana" thingy from the kanji of the 4 fish names... I knew it :P
Chekhov could've gotten it though, but there was something wrong in his method, it seems...
At least he got the first one right - "strip off 'fish' from 'mackerel' and 'blue' (ao) is left.
From there, we got Aosato Shuuhei ;D
edit: to explain the process, read this spoiler:
Spoiler:
Image
Reads as mackerel (saba), carp (koi), sea bream (tai) and flounder (hirame) from left to right

Strip off the kanji of fish (sakana):
Image

and get:
Image
Reads as blue (ao), village (sato), circumference (shuu) [though it says 'week' in the manga, the kanji of week (shuu) is different :P], and (hira), but may read as he/i when kanji is read w/other kanji [平 reads as 'hira' alone but 平易 reads as 'heii'...]

...and voila, we got Aosato Shuuhei :P
But the motive remains unrevealed (in translation) for now... maybe it's something for us to figure out :P

edit2: and also the reason why his alibi his false and about his bandage... it's yet to be translated :P

...no way; you don't seem to be Chinese :P
At that time, Japan's enemy was China, lol

BTW, translations are partially done, guys.
Spoiler:
The bandage was to cover the lipstick mark from the victim's regulator... simple. The bandage was on the right side, and browsing the net uses the right hand for the mouse so the left hand's the only free hand (for scratching and other stuff) :P

Hello, I'm a first time poster here, but I'm a regular poster on Holmes Study Forums. I've had a pretty good success rate in solving the mysteries and cracking the codes. I even cracked Kaito Kid's Instant Movement Trick mid way through the second chapter. I hope you all enjoy my debut deduction on the DCTP.

I believe I know who the killer is. I believe I have cracked this Fish Code.
Victim: Akamine Ruri
Previous death: Yoshirou(gender unknown)

Our suspect list is:
Ooto Rokusuke (23)
dark skin/light hair/mouth cover/hollars, but coughing
Aosato Shuuhei (25)
light skin/dark hair/head bandanna/band-aid on lower lip(claims acne)
Kaita Yasuji (24)
light skin and hair/ship pilot/eye cover(claims to of been struck)

I thought it was odd how the fish names were written in katakana rather then hiragana or their corresponding kanji. I think she might of been worried that if she wrote the kanji her killer would of seen his name and destroyed her dying message.
If my theory is correct about the code. I think I know just who the killer is.
I don't believe that the code is related to their possible injuries. Yasuji says he was struck in the eye the previous night by Shuuhei, If Ruri died three days ago how would she of known he was struck and would be wearing an eye patch? Same goes for Rokusuke. He didn't catch a cold until after they went diving, but she never returned with them.

The code:
saba(mackerel)
koi(carp)
tai(sea bream)
hirame(flounder)
The fact carp can't be caught in the sea proves that the list isn't something some fisherman made to list off his catch, or the type of fish you can catch in the area. The fact that the carvings match Ruri's watch also connects the code to her.

Each fish name is one kanji that is basically two characters combined into one, and each one has the character for fish (gyo/sakana) at the beginning before the second character. (example: mackerel is sakana/gyo and ao combined to make the kanji saba.)
These are the combination of kanji to the names:

SABA(mackerel) = gyo/ao
KOI(carp) = gyo/sato
TAI(sea bream) = gyo/shuu
HIRAME(flounder) = gyo/hei

The key to the code is on the back of Ruri's watch. It says:
H-A AKAMINE ANGELFISH CLUB
The fact the word "fish" was specifically removed is the key to this code. She's telling us to remove the "fish"
That in mind remove the "gyo" character from each name, list what you have left in order, and you get, "ao-sato-shuu-hei".
The killer is none other then the twenty-five year old man with a band-aid on his lip, Aosato Shuuhei!

I'm not sure, but from the art it looks like her lipstick is a little smeared. It could just be the way he drew things. If that is a smear I think I know why he's wearing a band-aid. She might of bitten his lip or scratched him.
I think he blames Ruri for the death of a fellow friend, Yoshirou. Maybe their friend died going after her when she went missing last time and died. That or Shuuhei is the real killer of Yoshirou, and he killed Ruri, because she caught him.
It could also be that Ruri felt sorrow for the loss of their friend Yoshirou and named the "Akamine Angelfish Club" after their friend. It's the Angelfish part. This is dependent on when she destributed these watches to when Yoshirou died. I can't quite explain the "H-A" part just yet. I don't know what Yoshirou's full name was. If the "A" stands for Akamine then the "H" could be connected to Yoshirou's family name as well.
This strikes me as a little unlikely though. If you were going to name a club after a lost friend why add your own family name to it. Seems conceded. Also when you engrave something wouldn't you use your given name rather then your family name?

I was really surprised it took Conan and Okiya so long to figure out the code. As soon as I saw the 'fish' was marked out I had it. I had figured out the code during the first chapter, but I was missing the key.

What do you think of my deduction?

Kris... try reading the spoilers and compare your answers or read the translation of File 666 in the Translations sub-board.

Speaking of the Chapter 666, it doesn't appear to be as sinister as we expected
666 might not mean anything to Shintoism, after all :P

I'll check that out. I only read chapter 665 today.

666 is just a number. People are taking that detail too seriously.

Edit:
Ah, the fact the translation is up in the forums does seem to make my deduction seem far less impressive. Rats! :P
