Re: Plots that haven't been resolved
So to rehash and rephrase everyone's lists + stuff I added in navy...
Items and things
• What is in the P.S. of Akemi's last text message to Akai?
• What was Elena about to say on the disk intended to be heard on Shiho's 18th Birthday?
• What (besides drug data) is on the bloody disk that Haibara lied about losing at the Haido City Hotel?
• What was the program about that Itakura couldn't complete for the sake of humanity?
• Night Baron Virus
• Robbery syndicate whose headquarters and warehouse are in Tottori - plot or not?
Plot people
• Vermouth's aging issue, her connection to the Miyanos, and APTX4869
• Why Vermouth's apparent desire for the Org to be brought down?
• Jodie’s father - how did he find out about Vermouth and what did he find to force Vermouth to take direct action?
• The husband of Vermouth as Sharon Vineyard
• Toichi, Vermouth, and Yukiko - how did that master-apprenticeship start?
• Elena and Atsushi Miyano: their lives, their supposed death by accident, their connection with Agasa
• Shiho and Akemi: why their different fates within the org? One became a high ranked member, the other lived a more normal life.
• Gin and Akai: how did the personal rivalry start when they probably hadn't met each other much if at all before Akai was ejected from the Org?
• Why does Bourbon hate Akai?
• Who was the mysterious man who staked out Akai's meeting with Gin that Camel ruined?
• Gin's relationship with Sherry
• CIA: Does it have anything else to do with the story besides Kir?
• Shiho's foreshadowed meeting with Akai
• Calvados: was he important for anything other than making Chianti and Korn angry at Vermouth?
• James Black: Does he have more relevance or a past?
• Haibara's strange reaction to Kurayoshi city (倉吉市), Tottori or perhaps Tottori in general
People
• Agasa's mysterious friends/connections - to the Miyanos and to unknown parties.
• Kaito Kid, plot relevant of not?
• Yukiko and Yusaku Kudo: what are they doing, how are they connected to the story and why don't they come back?
• Shizuka and Heizo Hattori: what are they doing, how are they connected to the story and why don't they come back?
• What is the relationship to the plot, if any, of minor recurring characters such as Okino Yoko, Sanada Kazumi, Azusa Enemoto, Akagi Hide, Osamu Kenzaki, etc...?
• Fusae Kinoshita and Billy: why their connection to Akai, what are they doing, and does Fusae have a dead magician relative?
• Kogoro's absent past and relatives. What was he doing (besides romancing Eri), why did he decide to join the police, why did he leave, and why does Gosho never bring up Kogoro's relatives?
General:
• Boss's identity
• Purpose of the Org and their research: Biochem, computer agenda?
• What's the Org's connection with America?
• Okiya's identity
• Scar Akai's identity

Re: Plots that haven't been resolved
Well Chekhov stole my thunder that I stole from him. :p
That really confirms my point. Even if a few of these things end up being pointless forever (Shinichi and Heiji's parents and at least one of the minor characters is likely imo) and even considering a lot of these plot points are likely connected so that one explanation quickly leads to another, I still think it could go past volume 90 easily (mainly since there will still be murder cases. Probably.)
It would really be a shame if the CIA isn't really used again as they hinted that the FBI and CIA don't particularly get along and likely have a problem with the differences of how to proceed against the Organization etc.

Re: Plots that haven't been resolved
I think the two alphabet agencies get along, it's just a case of the the left hand not speaking to the right hand and thus they come up with different agendas. This unfortunately somewhat matches real life, or at least the past in real life.kkslider5552000 wrote: It would really be a shame if the CIA isn't really used again as they hinted that the FBI and CIA don't particularly get along and likely have a problem with the differences of how to proceed against the Organization etc.

Am I the only one who thinks some of these are just kind of throw away lines that Gosho didn't think needed explaining?

They might, but I'd rather they're not.ProfParanoia wrote: Am I the only one who thinks some of these are just kind of throw away lines that Gosho didn't think needed explaining?
Where from? From the stories' limbus? Aren't they just in Osaka, living their lives?Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: • Shizuka and Heizo Hattori: what are they doing, how are they connected to the story and why don't they come back?

Re: Plots that haven't been resolved
Kyuu originally listed them, not me. I just copied his/her suggestion in making the list. I don't really see anything special about them plotwise unless they have BO related cases they worked on. I don't think they preside over Tottori prefecture; the Chugoku Regional Police Bureau would be in charge of that province. (info from the wiki)Dashin wrote:Where from? From the stories' limbus? I think that list will grow even bigger :x Of course it will be solved all someday, but my bet is, Gosho will add more unresolved things :x

Re: Plots that haven't been resolved
The real question is what need to happen to end Dc.kkslider5552000 wrote: You know, I like the cases and slow pace as much as anyone (apparently more than most though) but there really is no reason for it to be THIS slow anymore. I mean, with Gosho's best pacing (see: the Vermouth arc and (anime-wise) the Genta's dad case through the Red Shirt case), and with the absurd amount of stuff that has to be resolved and can be resolved the series could legitimately go past volume 90. So, I feel like listing all of this stuff that hasn't been resolved yet. (and stealing Chekhov's thunder)
-First of all there's the obvious "Conan isn't permanently Shinichi yet and hasn't defeated the BO in any permanent way" stuff obviously.
-Then there's the entire Bourbon arc. Again, obvious.
-Then there's...y'know, most of the relationship stories.
-Still know nothing about Calvados really.
-Or the reasoning/justifications of anyone important in the Organization.
-Or Anakota's identity.
-Or the truth about the ending of Akemi's e-mail or Elena's tapes.
-Speaking of which, we're clearly not done with Haibara's parents in general.
-Remember the APTX4869, and the Miayno research, Vermouth's immortality? ...I mean granted as a writer who doesn't want to risk horrible plot twists I wouldn't touch any of that anymore but that's a risk I can't see Gosho not taking.
-WHAT IS THE POINT OF SANADA KAZUMI OR POIROT CAFE GIRL? TELL ME DAMMIT!
-Haibara confronting Akai.
-James Black in general
-Chekhov gun after chekhov gun after...
-maybe Heiji's parents again? Even if just for one other case it could be fun. (ok that's stretching it I admit)
-what happened to Yukiko and Yusaku anyway?
-arguably Kid but let's not get into that discussion.
-CIA?
My answer is basically only one thing needs to happen. Shinichi coming back for good or Shinichi using up all hs chances to become shinichi and thus is Conan forever.
I know the BO to most is important. But We could never have another Bo story again and Conan could end such. Gosho could decide to not end the Bo and thus the Bo leaves Japan and takes it Operations with them. The Bo might be nothing more then a cause for the story.Conan could end with the Bo leavinng Japan and we would not learn anything more about it.
Bourbon to me is a red herring
Relationships story are also back stories and Gosho might decide to just keep thing as is.
I believe there is a very good chance that at the end most question you ask will still be unknown, even at the end. After all again I think most of then are meaningless and simple people just looking for something when nothing it there.
You know like a rose is a rose.
