So this entire Haibara saying "no" from last case turned out to be entirely meaningless (just as I thought),
and getting an antidote wasn't really a serious obstacle (just as I thought) even though Gosho sure tried to frame it as such.
As far as the current case goes, so far it's incredibly mundane, which it really shouldn't be for such a milestone.

Spoiler:
Gosho wrote an 8 year long "arc" which ended up being almost entirely meaningless, so 3 chapters is nothing for him in that regard. Still, it's more evidence of the poor writing I mentioned.
"I wonder if there really is a God...
If such an entity really existed, wouldn't all honest, hard-working people be happy?"
Shinichi is clearly too heart-struck and uneasy to be that close to Ran, now that he's re-experiencing his infatuation. He's trying to push her away(using his cold as his excuse).... I wonder what Gosho is trying to foreshadow, through Shinichi's inner struggle, about the conclusion of this romance series... will it push him to the point that he makes another romantic move?(can't wait to find out x3)
I wonder if Heiji's cold-mask appearance is any indication of how Muga might appear as, when Momiji makes her move(seeing as Gosho drew him like this in his M21 sketches, despite him not appearing that way in the movie).
If that's the case... I'll be expecting more reflecting left lenses :p
DC's Awesome Qoutes:
Spoiler:
Bourbon:''A child's curiosity and a detective's spirit of inquiry do have much in common'' Vermouth:''A secret makes a woman, woman'' Mary/Gin:''It's like encountering a demon in the darkness...'' Akai Shuichi:''Fear of death is worse than death itself'' Shinichi Kudo:''following the smell of blood to arrive upon a crime scene, using every one of your senses to hunt the culprit, then once you've seized hold of him, sinking your sharp teeth(your evidence) until your opponent gives up the ghost, That's a detective''
I feel like the pacing is weird Shinichi is there after being away for who-knows-how-long and everyone is just like "yo!"; he is not worrying about attracting attention; Sera, who has been observing him for so long, is not very impressed either it seems...
I am still willing to wait how this arc turns out and judge it afterwards however. I want to believe it's gonna get good.
And I as a huge ShinRan shipper will probably forgive anything that's gonna go wrong with this file anyway. I know it's wrong but I can't help myself xD the many blushing Shinichi panels are pretty promising
Look like the innocent flower,
But be the serpent under it.
("Macbeth")
Dunno... I hoped for something more spectacular.
But after I saw this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9krxkF0ZLQg - I just realized it seems Gosho does not care much about
"anniversary" chapters. I mean kinda nothing really important ever happened in those files but more or less a few files later or before.
But maybe I´m just underestimating the meaning of this kind of trip and everybody in Japan is going nuts.
Anyways... it seems like a decent case so far and lets see how this continues.
[ ] Yonehara = Rum
[ ] Kuroda = Amuros Boss
[x] MG = Mrs. Akai
[x] Haneda = Brother Akai
[ ] Rumi = Asaka
[ ] Wakita = Bo-Member Whiskey (aka the RAT)
[ ] Iori = just a butler
The abundant Shin-Ran fanservice does not manage to hide the fact that the writing which has led to this situation is mediocre with more holes than swiss cheese. We've gone from the antidote being something to take only in case of emergencies given the supposedly dangerous situation it puts Haibara and Shinichi in to it being handed by Haibara to Conan for some silly field trip just because he went all out to get back some no less silly phone strap.
Not to mention that Shinichi is now willing to take pictures with his classmates. You'd think he would avoid it given that, if the plot actually still made any sense, these pictures could have dangerous consequences.
On a positive note, the Kyoto art is nice, and the case looks somewhat interesting, but overall it's still poorly executed writing at best.
Unfortunately I agree with you 100%.
Spoiler:
Gosho can do drama and relationships so well (I'm not talking about the main characters just the murderers, victims and suspects circle), it is weird to see him struggling with ShinxRan this much.
And I love colour spreads and the basic idea is okay, but Shinichi and Ran feel like two-dimensional characters, as if Shinichi and Ran couldn't rotate their bodies well. Or the angles are weird. I'm not sure.
But despite all of that, I still got the "OMG" feeling after seeing the spoilers. I do love DC very much. Kyoto deserves great cases and this starts out just fine. I like the ShinxRan moments, it must be awkward for them.
If Haibara is monitoring Shinichi via Heiji and she is in Kyoto too, that would mean that Akai is there and that would lead to Amuro to be there.
There was supposed to be a Haibara-Sera showdown too, according to Gosho. But maybe that'll be for a later case years later.

Spoiler:
"Struggling?" Seems to me like a natural progression of Shinichi's/Conan's declining regard for keeping himself off the radar that especially progressed with the Bourbon arc—using his gadgets openly, and working with characters like Shuichi/Subaru, Rei/Toru/Bourbon and Masumi, instead of working through characters like Kogoro and Sonoko... and that's saying nothing of Ran being an exception to most of his rules—and Shiho/Ai has changed too, since she allowed this, to begin with. Again, it's a matter of how long it will take for there to be consequences, rather than, "will there be consequences?" (And (also) again, how long it'll take us to get there, to the consequences, is going to just utterly dull the impact for some... and it's already been utterly dulled for others)
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

That would be so nice but I doubt that will happen. This case is focused on Shinran so there won't be anything more than that...I'm so disappointed that Ai gave him the antidote after all, just because he found the stupid Higo strap. After that I'm not expecting much from Gosho.

Well, it was either that, or he'd have to steal it—and I can't see her taking kindly to that.
So where's the line, then? If Gosho can't meet expectations for this, then what expectations can he meet?

I was thinking the same. You are absent from school and then come back for classtrip? That is not how it works, buddy.

Though if you approach it that way, Shinichi would've been long expelled for being absent for months without any real reason as far as the school knows. The situation in that regard has never been realistic and I don't feel that it should be tbh.

Spoiler:
I don't think the administrators of Teitan High have been mentioned even once—in other words, as Serinox said, the real-life consequences of Shinichi not showing up to school have never been Gosho's priority. And if it was a priority, I'm not sure how it'd work, exactly—or even if it could work—could he really resolve it by just having the homework and especially the tests sent in? I don't know...

It's like a never-ending slump from Gosho ever since the Scarlett showdown. These 3 years of DC = far and away the lowest point of the series. It's not even close, either
