Re: Thoughts and expectations for file 900
I'd rather Conan died. I think he's become an egotistical little twerp that thinks himself indestructible. He also doesn't have as many skills as either Bourbon or Shuichi and is a weaker physical target.
Even though he's the main character and the title character, I've grown to hate him for what he's become. He experiences no real consequences for serious messes and everyone else ends up carrying the burden of his mistakes. Initially he was cocky and ended up humble for a time. Then he ended up becoming this abomination of a Gary Stu.

Re: Thoughts and expectations for file 900
Gosho tends to not kill off recurring characters...
I'm not sure about Akai dying. He just faked his death (in DC time, I am guessing it was about a month ago). So I don't see why Akai would really die in the end. I admire his character and would like to know more about him, so I prefer not to have him dead.
Bourbon is more likely to die in my opinion. He's an okay character and I like his skills...all I want to see is an Akai-Bourbon showdown.
Conan dying is definitely not going to happen, but it would be an interesting twist if he did. He has gotten lucky throughout the entire series, and it's sort of annoying how he has managed to pretty much outsmart the Black Organization ample times. It makes them seem less menacing and terrifying.
Yes, I actually notice that he seems quite confident in himself, he actually believes that he'll win against the Black Organization. It's sad because he's the main character and I figured in most cases, the main character should be somewhat admirable...but in this case, not really.

I think it's more of a case of Gosho not emphasizing that aspect of Conan's character nowadays because he has already done so many times and because so much else is happening. I would probably dislike Conan now, but looking back at his great character moments in episodes like 239, 270, 366... nah, can't really bring myself too. They overshadow his less flattering side for me.
In any case, he's certainly experiencing consequences now. His sloppy planning in the Mystery Train case is what got him and everyone else in the mess they're currently in in the first place, and the stress has been really getting to Conan; his paranoia and nervousness at this point is unprecedented in the series.

Re: Thoughts and expectations for file 900
The possibility of Conan dying in a show named after him is pretty slim. Yes, he may be getting on our nerves but that's probably because Gosho has extended his story for a long time (20 years for goodness sake!). It's quite hard to think of new problems for our dear protagonist to solve without being repetitive.PhantomWriter wrote:I'd rather Conan died. And we're also talking about a series used as a role model in Japan. Kids look up to Conan and such, so seeing him defeated without a trick up his sleeve will never happen (despite this being tiring).
I appreciate DC even though it's very long, but I don't want to witness the moment it loses its appeal.
You ready for this?

Re: Thoughts and expectations for file 900
We have yet to have an actual recurring, central character actually die, to note. Gosho will never kill off any character that's necessary for the brand to continue; it's just good marketing sense. Even after the manga ends, the Conan brand is going to go on indefinitely. It isn't like a show like Death Note or something like that: as we've seen, Conan, as a series, is designed to continue indefinitely. Be it movies, on TV, video games, this series won't fizzle out for at least 20-30 years even after Gosho ends the manga. There will always be something new Conan-related coming out, and having Conan die would sour the furtherance of the brand (even if everything post-series were set beforehand).

I just thought it would be awesome to see their clash ends up like that so don't think too much about it.RoboG55 wrote:Explain why it's a fitting end? (I don't understandasanez2008 wrote:Akai will probably die for real this time along with bourbon. it's a fitting end for the both of them.)
Conan dying could happen anytime as long as Bourbon is still alive. We just have to wait for Bourbon to make a report about Conan.PhantomWriter wrote:I'd rather Conan died. Re: Thoughts and expectations for file 900
I believe file 900 will probably be one of the following:
- Continuation of the Bourbon Arc (please no!)
- The mystery child/person arc (person who is with Sera)
- New BO Arc (with things actually happening every few cases)
- Start of a Status Quo Arc (ie. a slow and short period similar to that of the Cell Phone arc, or the first half of the Bourbon arc)
However, as I've been rereading the Bourbon arc, I noticed in 771.2, Sera says she's been living in America with her parents. Her father is apparently dead. Sera hasn't spoken much in regards to her encounter with Scar Akai from the Mystery Train with the main cast.
Let's review Sera's plot line so far (will be edited later, I have more theories)
In Sera's introduction case, there was a quick skirmish and it Sera is aware of who Ran was. Later, she is trying to get a hotel room (Haido Hotel) from a reservation she made, but is quickly denied. Sera is aware of Conan's name. Sera seems to throw her attempt at the case's solution in order to test Conan. End of case, Sonoko and Ran are surprised that Sera is wearing a female uniform.
The following case (Mouri Bombing/Hostage Case), Sera is revealed to be a girl, Sera states she is now living at a hotel, and the past 3 years she was living in America. At the Mouri Agency, Sera is aware of the existence of Sleeping Kogoro, and pretty much outright stated the evidence from Eisuke's deduction of how Conan is Shinichi. At this point, is currently uncertain if Sera knows 100% that Conan is Shinichi, but she's getting close. Sera at the start of the case reiterates she'll get breasts eventually.
The Ayumi+Rug Case, Mitsuhiko is surprised Sera is a girl. Sera seems to know the existence of Haibara and her personality. Sera is aware of Kudo's address, and it seems to me that Sera is aware that she knows someone is currently residing in that house. I personally would almost say that she knows of the person who may be inside.
The FBI+Heiji Case soon after has some interesting details. Conan informs Heiji that Sera is investigating Shinichi Kudo prior to the start of 778.
Camel and Jodie assume Sera is a male. James surprises them saying she's female. Is it possibly James' is one of Sera's contacts?
Note the above four cases, Sera's gender/appearance has been mentioned in each case.
My theory:
- Sera is male, and is Akai's brother (possibly squashed by Vermouth's line during Mystery train about an anemic sister (822.3)). There's been too much emphasis on Sera being female. It might be a red herring though. It could however be a hint for us to keep gender speculation as a factor for the identity of the mystery child as Conan thinks it is a girl.
- The mystery child is drugged, and is the father (assuming he isn't really dead) or mother
- Masumi's intention to come to Japan was quickly taken care of by James, and has been supporting her
- James has been supporting Masumi, and has been aware of the Fake Death trick from the start (607.12, Akai seems to have a plan)
- Okiya is a real person, just currently MIA, and is currently being roleplayed by Akai. How feasible can it be that a real Okiya is the middle brother?
- Masumi is aware of the existence of Okiya in some form. Cold Case has a lot Sera glaring at Okiya scenes.
Is it possible if one can retranslate Sera's line at 771.2 that I mentioned earlier?

File 900 is the climax for Amuro-Akai battle. Amuro dies/gets fooled/Vermouth locks him up in her house for forever and we get to Akai-Ai-Sera stuff hopefully.

I'm more interested in Okiya's plot than Conan, if there's matching point with Okiya and Amuro must be watched. Sera must be rich living in hotel. Came to thinking of it, I had to catch up if Manga mentioned mother. If not, I boldly say Sera's mother do met Yukkiko before. If any character doesn't share surname other than brother, other one of parents chose not to be contact at all.

Sera living in a hotel is because her father has a very rich friend who takes care of her and her familly financially.Sato wrote:I'm more interested in Okiya's plot than Conan, if there's matching point with Okiya and Amuro must be watched. And concerning Yukiko and Sera's mother, they may have met in the past,if Sera met Ran and Shinichi when they were child,I guess the parents were there too.
