Oh. Missed that.

Then perhaps the chopper crew was flying at a rather big distance, and were waiting for Bourbon's signal to move closer? I dunno.

btw, when did Conan met and gave Kid a phone? Because after getting off the train, he says to Kid to throw off the phone he gave him at the agency. I didn't know they met before the case.

When he "unmasked" him as the old lady's assistant. They don't actually show the handout, but it's quite obvious that it was then.

The more I think about Kid having one of Conan's phones the more I think about how he's going to mess with it seeing as he's ticked off at Conan.  Conan's going have all his ring tones messed with.

I keep imagining Ran calling Shinichi's number while Kaito still has it, and he accidentally mistakes it for his own and thus goes into the phone conversation thinking he's talking to Aoko... :-X

Spoiler:
Does anyone besides me think that the reason Bourbon has for disguising himself as Scar Akai is far from a fool-proof plan?

You're not the only one. The plan itself could have worked out if the execution didn't leave so much to be desired. According to him, he dressed as Akai to see the reactions of those close to him and from there he would determine if they were alive. The only person  he ever actually interacted with was Jodie in the bank heist case. In other instances he walked past Andre Camel in the bathroom and then hid from Sera when she saw him on the street. He did not stick around long enough with either of them to get any conclusive reaction. I hope there is more to this plan we don't know about.

Well, Jodie did look very confused and freaked out just by seeing Scar Akai, Camel pretty much had a "did I just see a ghost" face, and as for Sera, well, it's likely that Bourbon thought she was being kept out of the loop.

Jodie's behavior matches with denial, Camel's matches with disbelief, and Sera's shows she hasn't been in contact with her brother. So in short, everyone acted like Akai was actually dead.

Later, Sera's "I thought you were dead" sealed the deal; had it not been for Akai's grenade-throwing, Bourbon could have been pretty satisfied with his results.

about what Sera said then, it only proved what she was told by the FBI, not the actual truth. But maybe Bourbon concluded Akai was very close to Jodie and since her reaction was as though she really believed Akai was dead. Let's remember Vermouth checked her reaction right after talking with the police(Takagi), and after linking the 2 reactions he concluded the FBI would've told her something and the only thing they knew was that Akai died. About this, I'm the most curious to know what method Akai used to feint death.
Going back to the current case, it's true that if it wasn't for the grenade, the intuition wouldn't tell Bourbon his enemy was the one who left the mail :). I guess it's more interesting this way and Bourbon would be looking really low and outwitted compared to the description Kir made for him

You're right. It's just that, while we saw Andre's reaction, Bourbon did not. He stuck around Jodie long enough in the bank to get a feel for the situation with her so there's no problem with that. But he disappeared almost immediately after showing himself in front of Andre which, to me, is hardly enough time to interpret someone's reaction.

Sera's "I thought you were dead" scene occurred when Vermouth was in the disguise, didn't it? Bourbon mentions that while he was the one in the disguise he came to the conclusion that Akai was really did. I'm sure Sera's words were even more confirmation but we don't know if he was told about it before confronting Sherry.

You have a point.

Coming from an entirely speculative standpoint, though, it could be that Bourbon did notice Camel's reaction, but not in the way the reader/viewer did. Maybe he expected a "Hey, bro, what the hell are you doing here, you're not supposed to be out and about" kinda reaction, but instead got a guy that stood still and hesitated, and thus judged it as Camel acting "like he saw a ghost".

Continuing in the speculative standpoint, I don't see why Vermouth and Bourbon wouldn't be sharing information on their probing for confirmation of Akai's death, seeing as they both seem to be very interested in knowing that kinda thing (hence Vermouth's "that's what I wanted to hear" after tazing Sera). It also seemed to me that knocking Sera out was also part of their plan, so I wouldn't put off the idea that when Vermouth notified Bourbon about knocking Sera out, she also told him "and guess what, she thinks Akai is dead, too".
