Maybe the butler is the guy who saved the blind lady 30 years ago, and also the guy chased by the police. So he arranged the things so that he would be enrolled in the family (as a butler) in order to be allowed to live with his love. And the resultat is that he'd like to reveal his true identity to the lady but he can't because of his criminal past.

A bit like Conan, in a way ^^
Please forgive my bad english.

I sure hope this isn't the case, because it would mean virtually all of us predicted Gosho's plot twist at the end of the first file. C'mon Gosho, take us all down a notch! :P

^^' I really hope you are right. A twist like in the Furinkazan-case would be good. But there are too few characters at the moment. ._."

It's the same structure... but maybe it's interesting who the culprit is...

Heh, Ran could figure out the case her father was hired to solve if she learns about the "butler's" scar. She already suspects that the client already knows the identity of her savior.

Actually, my first thought was
"The mystery man has totally got to be Chiba! Because he's like the only police officer with no love life!"
but then I realized that he's not old enough  :(

So now I've got some ideas

a. Detective Koushien flashback anyone? She's totally gathered these guys who have something vague in common in order to have her revenge on one of them for some totally random reason.

b. The butler finally did it. Took Gosho long enough. 667 chapters...

c. (crack theroy) The guy with the scar is Kogoro. He's just not telling because it would be too painful for her to realize that her first love already had someone else.
So Haibara's "radar" goes off at odd times, right? And she thinks that it is linked to the Black Org, right?
But all of the times it's gone off, there have been FBI (or suspected FBI) members there...
So, it's an FBI radar.

Yeah everything seemed to be point at the Butler from the start.
Spoiler:
The latest chapter doesn't help people think other wise also since the Butler has been shown to have a small scar on his back. While I'm not expert on body scars, I'm assuming scars do not grow and stretch with the body. So if the mystery man got a scar as a kid that covered his whole body, as an adult that scar should probably appear smaller, like in the Butler's case.
The only thing to explain is why he chose to be her butler and knowing this, why did the woman offer the reward to find a person already living in her house?

Could it be the butler felt she was to rich for him even to try to have a relationship with and decided to be satisfied being her servant and she knowing this set-up the reward for him to claim so he could have a good amount of money to his name. With this money, she felt that maybe he would have enough confidence in himself to confess to her?  If this is the case, sucks that this little plan attracted two shady guys.

You realize that "The Scar" case has been concluded for 2 weeks now, right?  All the answers were revealed, and we're now onto a new case that continues from what happened in "The Scar".

Nope did not realize that...didn't realize it at all. Well thanks for letting me know.

-edit-
Read 669 and I was real close but this is most likely because it was such an easy case to begin with. Good thing to know that this case was just a build up into a bigger case. And Thanks again GinRei.
