I think this thread is probably better for General. Spoiler-D is pretty much unofficially the manga based discussion center and I know there is a decent segment of people here who don't watch the anime. Gen would probably have more people who know about the Hama Mike cameo.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only person ever to care enough to actually try to look stuff up about this guy. And that's saying a lot since I posted right after Chekhov.

It's a japanese adaptation of a character from a series of american detective novels from 1947-1997 (before being revived by a new author in 2008). He goes against the law but respects the police. And the fact that the japanese show only gets a single sentence mention on Wiki and I couldn't find anything about the show anywhere else the previous time I checked should tell you how little the show matters.
