Well...their first kiss was after the Hammerman case (ep. 535) and before that it was more just flirting with eachother, so I guess following the events of that case.

I can believe they were dating before the Matsuda case...if you put "dating" in the loosest sense possible or just that they were "technically" on a date but were there in reality to catch a criminal(which did happen).

Honestly, the only way to look at it is that it was more likely they were dating the later in the series you get, with it being definitive between the whistling scar man cases and the Shiratori X Kobayashi "arc".

Granted in that episode the DB suggest he does not have a girlfriend. But it is clear he likes Sato. And Yumi says to him off screen that Sato likes someone. It is clear at the end of the case the person she likes is Takagi and she wanted to eat dinner with him, only Megure came in and stopped that. But Takagi was invited to come with them. Agreed since rewatching Episode 205 and Sato herself called "our date" that one should be the first official date. That "date" was at the end of 205

First a correction Takagi proven here as well in the first case he can be a capable investigator.But for some of this thoughts Conan would have missed the stage in the first love case. In the third case Takagi without Conan anywhere near figures out the truth of sato case 18 years ago. And again my point he figured it out all by himself just by looking at  a sign. Conan does help Sato to solve her case not takagi. And again Takagi get lumps for his trouble.

Summary: First time together alone : Suspects Plane catching and Takagi askiing if Sato likes Megure.

First almost date: she refuses the head inspector and ask Takagi to join her for dinner. That would have been their first date but for Megure. But Takagi was invited to join them and that might have been like a date with a Chaperone but Takagi thinks the wrong thing and so it does not happen.
