to answer aokochan's question: he doesn't fell that butterflies or something that indicates that you have a crush. He isn't IN LOVE but he LOVES her. It might be used the same but there is a vast difference between these two things

He's 17, he ain't no young 13-15 year old - I'd like to think just because he's 3 years away from not being a teenager doesn't mean he is a complete imbecile.  Apparently ages 13-19 don't know shit about love and then once they hit the 20 mark they are wise-ass love gurus.

Heiji is incredibly intelligent. The fact that he's always up with Shinichi does tend to downplay the fact that the guy has easily handled cases just as complex as Shinichi's, and has generally reached the same conclusion at a similar rate. He seems dense in personal matters, but he could be deliberately blocking out Kazuha because of standard rejection fears or some other issue.

If that is true, is it possible that he fears he'll hurt Kazuha if he tells her his feelings or he's afraid his relationship with her will end like his original parent's did?

DC's not that dark, not even enough for a main char to have  a disfunctional family - the closest thing we have is a still married but seperated couple that still love each other.

Aside from Shizuka messing around with a fake identity, there's been nothing to ever suggest that either of them are not his parents. (Conan-tachi do freak out about his mum being so pale when he's so dark, but he mentions that he got the colour from his grandfather anyway.)

Kazuha's family situation is more ambiguous; her mum is never seen or mentioned. She possibly has some family issues that could cause conflict, but this is entirely in the realm of fanfic as her family life has never been explored.

How Kaziha's family looks like is never mentioned. We only know that her father works with/under? Heiji's fatherand she apearently likves with him.

I think Heiji likes Kazuha and is -starting- to feel a little bit more then friendship but he doesn't realise it himself.  He feels like he should be the only one she follows around.  Heiji is protective of her but Heiji is protective of all his friends (especially Shinichi lol).  However because Heiji is like a little kid he doesn't really "love" her per say xD. 

In a way I'm glad Kazuha's confession didn't get to him yet.  He's obviously not ready =n= *sigh*
