Detective Haibara 642(Grabbing Karuta Cards in Dire Straits

:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

:DDDDDD
oh yeah, the episode...um...

I like the OP but goddamn, it's the type of stuff Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei would parody for an opening.

I thought the Ran scene at the beginning was gonna be dumb but then Conan's borderline out of character adorableness was really funny. And then Haibara messing with him. Awesome.

Case is...I dunno. Probably better than the last case Detective Haibara was in (yes it has been over a year) but even compared to other cases, I have no idea what to think of this case before seeing the other part. I have a feeling anyone who actually has some decent knowledge of Karuta Cards thinks this case is hilariously easy though. Just a guess. It really felt like Conan would do mostly the same things in that situation, but without suddenly turning Haibara into a clone of Conan. That's tricky but maybe largely because of Haibara's awesome, it worked. I know Conan will save the day at the end, but I at least hope they just have it as him calling the police or Haibara instead of being superhero Meitantei Conan. Regardless, I'll take what Haibara episodes we can get...unless it's an OVA that purposely avoids being intelligent or interesting in any way.

I felt like Haibara was a little OOC for not just calling the police. :P I know we have to have an episode and everything, but would Takagi really scold the kids for telling the police a kid claimed he was being kidnapped, even if it ended up being a lie? She's kinda putting the DB's in unnecessary danger.

Creepy kidnappers are cool though.

Only thing that's bugging me is the discrepancy between the floors Ayumi is supposed to live in the anime and in the manga. It has always been 30F in the anime but Gosho somehow changed it to 28F. And I wonder why.

I think because Gosho, like everyone else, doesn't care about most AOs.

She seems to be getting more detective-like. Wonder if she is even noticing the influence Conan has on her

Another way to look at it is that she was in character for not trusting Conan's judgement ;D

Haibara scared me for words like "lateral pharyngeal bands medial", "palatine tonsils", "acute upper respiratory tract infection", for medical amateur like me considered these as serious illness, but thank to Conan said simply just a cold.

This episode was pretty interesting, but unfortunately, it cuts off right before it gets interesting. (Spoiler: I read the manga) All I'll say about the ending is that it's pretty hilarious, at least in my opinion. (That's me hoping they don't cut out a lot in the manga-anime transition; I don't watch raws)

I kind of like it when Haibara acts different. You get to see different aspects of her, and you get to see her supreme intelligence on-screen. But, of course, she's not as good as Conan. After all, the show is called 'Detective Conan'; if Detective Haibara took the stage, they'd have to change the name! lmbo XD (And unlike OVA11, this is actually canon.)
Knowing the truth and knowing what to do with the truth are two completely separate ideas. Learn to distinguish them. OR ELSE.

I think It's a little sad when I think to myself mid-episode:

"Ooooh, that's why this is so entertaining!  It's because it's not an AO!"

Maybe it's just me, but I really like the track that was playing after Ai noticed the kid's hands were sweaty and clinching (when she said "Hold it!" and held the door)

It could've been in an older episode, but this was the first time I've heard it.

Haibara, slammin' those cards

kid better be glad Wataya Arata's not a DB or he'd never get his message out.

Also, case solution spoiler, but a slight issue with this episode:
Spoiler:

they made sure when the criminals originally showed up to make their hairline go straight across, but here it basically makes it look like he has a widows peak anyway, especially in that first shot.  :-X
