How Shinichi Should Tell Ran That He's Conan???

Well, I used to want Shinichi to confess to Ran, but after reading a certain fanfic I now believe Ran should figure it out and expose Shinichi herself.

The fanfic in question is called "The Mystery of Conan Edogawa". Basically it chronocles the story of Ran, and how after having her suspicions sparked yet again decided to put an end to the uncertainty and heartache once and for all. However after thinking over her approach she realizes that her standard tactic of "Corner Conan and yell at him like a crazy woman to confess" is never going to work. Instead she opts to become "Mouri Ran - Tantei-san" and try and defeat Shinichi at his own game, basically treating the Shinichi/Conan mystery like a case to solve.

During the story she interviews "Witnesses" (Aka Agasa, Heiji, and anyone else close to "Conan") searches for evidence that Conan isn't who he claims to be, and spends alot of time wondering why he'd put on such an elaborate lie, and whether she should really be meddling in his affairs when she doesn't know what's going on. Also, Shinichi isn't standing idly by during Ran's investigation. He does his best to derail her, and he almost wins.

In the end there is no final confrontation where Ran pulls Shinichi's "The Criminal is YOU!" and throws around deductions. Instead she simply gathers up her evidence, throws it at him, and says "I know. So what do we do about it?" Though she doesn't find out absolutely everything. Only that Conan is Shinichi and that he's hiding from some organization that made an attempt on his life. ( She doesn't know who the organization is, how he became small, or who Haibara is. She only finds out what she felt is relevant to her. "Is Conan Shinichi?" (There's also a running theme of Ran comparing Shinichi hiding from her as Conan to Holmes faking his death and hiding from Watson after Reichenbach which I really thought was appropriate.)

The story really made me appricate Ran's character much more, and realize how badly she gets shafted in the show and manga. She's not stupid. She's more than capable of finding Conan out, but she has to keep getting handed the idiot ball until Gosho decides it's "time" for her to know. I believe now that she can and should find out on her own. she's more than capable of itand she deserves that satisfaction. However I'm sure that won't happen. She'll probably either find out in the final confrantation with the BO or Shinichi will tell her, and I don't particularly like either option. Ran deserves better than that.

That is exactly how I want It.  And you are right about that Ran does deserve better than just standing there at crime scenes, always saying: " Conan-kun where are you .... and you can't desturbe Dad in his work".

But back to the topic. Well as already said I want Ran to know Conan is Shinichi before he tells her himself. But I don't want him to confess after the big clash with the Black Organisation. I want him to tell her before anything happens and ton realize thay she is a cabable partner for him. Someone he can trust and rely on.

Well personally, I would prefer him to stick with Haibara and have Shinchi "disappear". That or have two different endings, one with Ran, one with Haibara.

Joking aside I think it will or should be revealed when she is in danger and he is confronting the BO. Though I sort of think after all the drama of taking down the crime organization ends Gosho might try for humor, have Shinchi say something like I'm sorry I betrayed your trust, maybe try to make a dramatic exit, and Ran saying he better stick around because he has a lot to do to make it up to her. It could also be drama of when he thinks he's dying to confess to her, only for him to be fine in the end. And as you read this you now see why I'm NOT a writter lol.

I agree he'll only tell her the truth when both of them are in danger confronting the BO. Probably Gosho will choose the "dramatic way" first and it will end with some kind of joke or something like that. Just like he always does

Ai has finally found a cure for the APTX 4869 and it's ready for Conan/Shinichi to use. However before they use it they, with the help of Shinichi's parents concoct a plan where Ai dresses up like Conan (like she did for the play). While in the disguise she stays with Ran and Kogoro for a very brief time, but she stays in bed using the pretense of being ill.

Shinichi takes the antidote and returns to normal.

He then makes a grand appearance and takes the focus off of Ai. Now his mother come back using the same disguise she used when they 'kidnapped' Conan and picks up Ai (still disguised as Conan). They fade away and then return to their regular roles.

Ran would be so grateful that Shinichi has returned, she doesn't really notice that this Conan was a fake and when she is taken away by her 'mother' their involvement would be over. Shinichi talks to Ran about how he's home for good... or until the next case, but he'll never be gone this long again.

As to whether or not takes Ai the antidote is left unsaid but the choice is literally held in her hand and...

The End.

There would also be a side-story to go along with but it would concern the marriage of Takagi and Sato to help divert attention away from the fake Conan.

sooner or later Ran might saying something like you are keeping something from me and while it might have nothing to do with Conan, Shinichi being human will think it is. How longer after that before he breaks down and then tells her the truth? Do you believe he will keep lying to her forever?

I think Ran is going to learn Conan's identity at the end of the manga. It might during the confrontation with BO. While Gin is holding a gun against Ran, Conan shoots a ball at Gin and says, "I am Kudo Shinichi, a detective."
Well no matter how it is presented i am sure Gosho will make it romantic. I am looking forward to it.
