I like this part!
He's genius right? I bet he could easily make a plan to make Ran realize who he is without endangering everyone...and himself...

The fanfic in question is called "The Mystery of Conan Edogawa". Basically it chronocles the story of Ran, and how after having her suspicions sparked yet again decided to put an end to the uncertainty and heartache once and for all. However after thinking over her approach she realizes that her standard tactic of "Corner Conan and yell at him like a crazy woman to confess" is never going to work. Instead she opts to become "Mouri Ran - Tantei-san" and try and defeat Shinichi at his own game, basically treating the Shinichi/Conan mystery like a case to solve.
During the story she interviews "Witnesses" (Aka Agasa, Heiji, and anyone else close to "Conan") searches for evidence that Conan isn't who he claims to be, and spends alot of time wondering why he'd put on such an elaborate lie, and whether she should really be meddling in his affairs when she doesn't know what's going on. Also, Shinichi isn't standing idly by during Ran's investigation. He does his best to derail her, and he almost wins.
In the end there is no final confrontation where Ran pulls Shinichi's "The Criminal is YOU!" and throws around deductions. Instead she simply gathers up her evidence, throws it at him, and says "I know. So what do we do about it?" Though she doesn't find out absolutely everything. Only that Conan is Shinichi and that he's hiding from some organization that made an attempt on his life. ( She doesn't know who the organization is, how he became small, or who Haibara is. She only finds out what she felt is relevant to her. "Is Conan Shinichi?" (There's also a running theme of Ran comparing Shinichi hiding from her as Conan to Holmes faking his death and hiding from Watson after Reichenbach which I really thought was appropriate.)
The story really made me appreciate Ran's character much more, and realize how badly she gets shafted in the show and manga. She's not stupid. She's more than capable of finding Conan out, but she has to keep getting handed the idiot ball until Gosho decides it's "time" for her to know. I believe now that she can and should find out on her own. she's more than capable of itand she deserves that satisfaction. However I'm sure that won't happen. She'll probably either find out in the final confrantation with the BO or Shinichi will tell her, and I don't particularly like either option. Ran deserves better than that.
I totally agree! Especially with your last paragraph.
seconded!
and I agree about that fanfic, it's one of the best around!
but this is about how Shinichi should tell Ran he's Conan...
(Don't get me wrong I myself want that Ran should figure it out by herself)
I was thinking of something like Ran fguring it out but NOT confronting anyone and then
Shinichi finally confessing and....
Ran:"so you're telling me you are Shinichi? ok! Let me mark that on calendar...so after 3 months 2 weeks 5 days 7 hours and 15 minutes since I figured out your identity myself you finally crack up and confess...it looks like I beat you in your own game mister!" *Ran sports very evil grin and leaves to prepare dinner leaving dumbfounded shrunken detective with Ran's diary that tells how Ran figured it out.*
Edit// really should proofread before posting...

She is going to punch him, sooner or later. Maybe not just in the moment of his confession, but when everything comes to normal again, She will remember things like the shower or something like that and will punch him to unconsciousness, no doubt
