I really liked the mystery in this one and it was just fun in general to watch.

I'm sad that they glossed over the inevitable celebration when the dam operators come back to town and say "dudes this kid went off to stop a bursting dam with an avalanche to save our town and he did it. WHOOOA"

also, not only does he skateboard on the ceiling of a tunnel, he manages to land on his skateboard from jumping down and is going in the right direction to dodge a car. Kid has skills, yo. Though why didn't he just stay to the side instead of freaking out every driver in the tunnel? :V

I agree with all of this. Movie was awesome: I got sucked in about 5 minutes in \o/ *must own it*

Because that would be no fun. Besides, if he rode on the side, everyone would look to watch him and crash obviously :V He rode in front of them to keep their eyes on the rode *nod nod*

Anyway, I think this movie is definitely in my top 3. Like seriously, I loved it so much. I really hope they keep going in this direction \o/

I guess I'm the only one to prefer movie 14 to this one? o_O;

He seemed a little OoC with the friend speech and so on. I thought the action scenes were also stretching it more than normal. I think it bothered me that he didn't get injured at all during any of it. At least the other movies didn't make him invulnerable. lol

Yeah, he had no right to be giving them a friend speech in the first place when he goes and thinks harsh things about them all the time. XD

But it was nice to see him care for a change and actually show that he thinks of them as a little more than children he's gotta take care of. :)

I never pay much attention to the action scenes, but I did love the end scene. The others kind of... didn't hold my attention. But it's hard to give me action and keep me focused. XD *Likes character development*

Yeah, Conan's lack of injury was a bit extreme. In the first movie after disposing of the bomb in the cat carrier he gets a nice bandage around his head, the tunnel was much the same circumstances, only with cars flying around too.

The part I do not understand: Why Conan is not a national hero by this point. Any day now, the BO will realize, "Well damn, this kid could be a problem in ten or so years, let's get rid of him before he grows up."

enjoyable action, but the mystery was so... nothing. i kept waiting for the twist to be revealed, but there was no twist (well, ok, there was one, but it was secondary).

biggest gripe: the action should reach its highest point during the showdown against the main villain!!!!!!!!!! for me, that clash is the most memorable (if not the 'best') part of almost all of the movies (and it's always there in the ones that i like). conan vs. crazy sommelier, conan vs. rasputin lady, conan vs. deranged ex-surgeon and so on. even when there isn't a direct clash, there are two characters facing off- in movie 5 you have conan and gin sparring from afar, a conflict that leads the movie to its thrilling conclusion. movie 6, 8, and 11 don't follow this pattern and while i can give 8 a pass for being so similar to Airplane!, 11 is awful (6 is a very different movie in many ways).*

music was good, no death by blimp theme here, though there were a few points where i felt the intensity could have been upped.

why is touma out and around? someone who has just gotten out of an 8 year coma should not be walking around in the cold, accompanied only by children.

not at all sure what to think of haibara mocking agasa about his weight. or genta and mitsuhiko arguing. the speech conan gave was hilariously cliched and moralistic.

pacing was markedly better than in recent movies. things flowed well and the action wasn't broken up by useless heiji cameos (hello 13/14), though it did start to strain credibility.

as some who goes skiing quite a bit, i felt like the outfits were not very accurate. people were for the most part dressed too lightly (you had the classmate girl outside in a skirt (!) at one point).

it was nice that they didn't go with the fake terrorism aspect here. 14 was so irritating that way, because you know from the start that terrorism doesn't exist in DC world, but one of the "mysteries" solved later on is that the terrorism aspect is phony.

it would be nice if the action centered around an actual murder mystery. the james bond style action has been a part of the DC movies from the very beginning, but most of the early movies were murder mysteries. the #1 objective was to catch the culprit and to that end there was a lengthy investigation period that involved an examination of the suspects and a search for clues (a search that often took place alongside action scenes to be sure). granted some of the more recent movies have done that, but they have done it rather badly.

so many explosions, so few deaths. one reason i don't like explosions in these movies is that bystanders aren't allowed to die, which means that the explosions will always blow up the surrounding structures, while sparing all people in the area.

*a careful viewer might say- what about movie 1- the key moment is the thread cutting, which takes place when the culprit has been captured. that's true, but there is a key difference: the culprit can still achieve his objective! lunatic architect dude wanted to blow things up and he still could have succeeded at that point. yamao, on the other hand, has failed- he isn't going to get the jewels, but the action continues.

another post of typing whatever comes to mind while watching the movie maybe?

First of all, I hated the intro. Not the Shadowman vs. little boy stuff, that worked for whatever it was. That train was stupid, I wanted to put pinball noises when it started hitting the walls of the road. Which is...odd as I would normally defend stuff like that but that was...something.

I believe I've seen Gin hit Shinichi and Vodka push Shiho infinity times now. God bless you movie intros, never change.

I really hope someone like Megure figures out what's going on with Shinichi/Conan with all these hints given to him, it'd be awesome.

Detective Boys with PSPs. How'd they go from Super Mario Kart to PSP?

lol agasa's fat :DDDDD

the previous two lines are the best part of the movie so far

SPINNING KOGORO. GIF. NOW.

Haibara quiz. Answer: YOU DON'T GET TO ANSWER SO THERE"

...Kogoro tries to eat his hand, wtf? Some japanese thing I don't get I hope otherwise...wtf?

Exposition, exposition, rush it out ASAP!

And then the case stuff happens and I give up trying to type until it's over.

...oh wait nvm, Shadowman has a sniper. CALVADOS LIVES! I knew it!

Ok, my thoughts on the movie. Good question. I'm not fully sure but I guess right now I'll say it's what I thought it was gonna be. I enjoyed it as much as the last movie, except this time the actual quality of the movie matched it. Good case, genuinely fun moments and nothing outside of that stupid intro was bad. The over the top nonsense known as the climax somehow worked so much better and the "Is Conan dead?" part actually worked fairly well despite how hilariously obvious what the answer to that question was. But other than that...it was a Detective Conan movie.

I did love the delicious murders! YES! YES! :)

Number of songs from the 2007 soundtrack:....0 because it wasn't...um...yeah...

oh speaking of which, I'm now confused, where did the music used in the London arc come from? I thought it was this movie but I guess not?

I personally think the DB were kind of cute here. Especially at the end.

They constantly interjected and forced themselves in to everything that happened, I know that they do that all the time, but it was SO annoying this time around, I just wanted them to die

She's a fifteen year old, and those have been known to make stupid choices for the sake of fashion. I'll have to respectfully disagree otherwise as well. I've found myself shedding my coat and sledding in just a sweater. And it depends vastly on the coat as well; I was wearing my mom's old coat for a long time and went skiing in two sweaters to boot. Then I got a new coat, and now ski in no sweaters.

HEY! :O Don't say that about the little cuties! x3

I don't remember them really forcing themselves into anything? ??? A lot of the time they were just in the right place.... weren't they? *Watched it without subtitles, was bored and needed something to do*

But the whole Genta mistake riding thing was... it was sweet but THAT was a tad bit annoying... but that's GENTA. Genta is GENTA. XD
