Or maybe he thought : 'How about giving Ran some revelance in terms of plot ?'.

Who knows ? :P

I think that's more-so character development. XD

That's just another example of how Gosho LOVES to recycle his characters! XD

Try and come up with 1000 of characters, and none resembles the other one :P That's almost impossible, since you do have some style in art XD
There is also a difference between a "normal" character (that dies in a case, lol) and a main character (Ran, Shinichi, Heiji etc.). Since the Main characters need to be more appealing than normal ones.

While they may look like some of his other characters he'd be able to get away with it if HE didn't point it out HIMSELF! XD

It's called Lampshading (and a bit of Refuge in Audacity too, I s'pose), to quote TV Tropes :P

I don't care for Ran that much as a character.  I think that she should simply be killed off and Ai can end up with Conan.

First of all, why don't you like Ran?

Second, come on now. Saying something like that is just giving AiCons a bad name. Sure most will say things like that but most of the AiCons on here have been around a long time and everybody knows they aren't SERIOUS, and when somebody actually seriously states that they have a problem with Ran they explain why. This is just a bit more spiteful than an explanation, don't you think? :)

*Waits for somebody in the ShinRan thread to see the post* We wouldn't want you to be bashed in now would we? XD

There are many people that like Ran and if you can't tell us WHY you want this to happen (why you don't like Ran, why you don't think she'll have much importance to the plot?) please don't state that you just want her dead. It may start up some fights... *Waits for somebody in the ShinRan thread to see the post* We wouldn't want YOU be bashed in now would we? XD

Well, I'm not sure.  I've never really connected with her as a character.  She doesn't seem to me to be that deep of a character.  She rarely really contributes to the plot (though on the few occasions she has, it has been a pretty big impact). I don't know if I really have that much of a reason, but as I said I just don't really care for her.

Maybe I was a bit extreme when I said kill off Ran.  I mean, yes, that would set a lot more in motion for the storyline and make it more interesting, but that would probably upset a lot of fans of the series as well.  What I'd really like to see is less Ran in the show, and more Ai.  Maybe have Ai come along with them on the crime scenes instead.  Personally, I think she is a much better character, which is what I was going for earlier.

I see what you mean.

Honestly I think she and Ai and the DB should all have equal parts and contribute just as much to the end of the series. However, it probably will turn out just like the movies where everybody but Conan is completely helpless in the end and just there for some unknown reason. XD

Ran being killed off would be one of the best things to happen in DC in a long time, it would be very interesting to see conan fall into a downward spiral, and slowly have to rebuild himself
