What promted you guys to read/watch detective conan?

I first watched it when it came on Adult Swim as Case Closed. About three years after it stopped playing on Adult Swim my mom mentioned something about to me about Case Closed only she said it was called Detective Conan. I looked online for a web site that had translated versions of the manga that I could read. Once I found a web site that had the Detective Conan manga I then spent a full week doing nothing but reading Detective Conan manga. It was later that I did some searching on You Tube and began to watch the anime series in all its subtitled glory.

Picked up volume 18 for no apparent reason. Was in love in a matter of minutes. And before I knew it, I couldn't get enough...

I had already read all the mangas that I read back then that was on the library and so I picked another one and it was DC

Curiosity after catching the tail end of a fansubbed version of movie 3 at an anime convention when I was just starting high school.

Was that perhaps at a convention in New York/Maryland? If so, that is quite a coincidence and I will explain why in PM if it is the case. (Sorry if it was stated elsewhere in the thread, only made it through the first half of the first page before posting this)

As for me... I have always liked mysteries and I saw Case Closed randomly one night on Adult Swim and thought it was terrific. The first episode I watched was episode 15 in terms of Detective Conan order and episode 16 as far as Case Closed is concerned. Back on DCTV, we had a night where we showed everyone's first episodes--it was really good fun.

hmm..boredom..that is!! my friend suggested to watch DC even though I don't like it (its a SHOUNEN anime..so why would I watch that?) then because I have nothing to do,I turned the TV on. Watch DC. (gosh!! its so great!) Then watch DC everyday until just got addicted to it!

My insomnia, I couldn't sleep and it was like 5:30, so I turned on adult swim and saw my first episode of case closed, "Lights, camera, murder."

Was bored, went to shopping. Then I saw volume 30 of dc and bought it out of curiosity. It made me a total Kid fangirl at first.

I watched in on TV when I was about 10 years old. After a few years(I was about 12 years old), I checked if there was a manga. I read it, and I really got into it

Went to a bookstore looking for Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Manga, but it was out of stock. Saw DC volume 9, flipped through the pages and fell in love. <3

Back on DCTV, we had a night where we showed everyone's first episodes--it was really good fun.

If you did this face because someone in uni. here, then how would you react to know that many of us have finished uni, are working or even married? 

ehhh? I thought 95% here are still studying so that means some are watching since school to college.. uni...working....married then with their kids now?? LMAO

My friend and his nephew used to watch the dub on Adult swim when it was out and would talk quite a bit about it. My friend kept saying that i needed to watch, but it wasn't till about a year and a half ,almost two years ago, that I actually finally decided to try it out. after watching the first episode I was addicted, and still am.

I really do wonder why I waited so long to try this series out.

I graduated two summers ago and now have a full-time job doing what I love.

i was new into anime then, a close friend of mine said that animes were the new cartoons so i decided to try it out. eventually, i came across dc on animax. if i remember right, it was an old episode about baseball. i finished the ep and found it interesting but didnt really too care much about it. next day, i happened to catch dc again! i finished the ep like the day before, except something was different, i was hooked.

Highschool friend who's watched a shitton of anime got me into it.

Maybe you first saw episode 41 (the worst AO of the 0-100 zone) and then episode 42 the next day (a great emotional case). That would explain your rather rapid change of opinion.
