Could someone please help me? ^^

Postby ssjup81 » May 29th, 2011, 10:33 pm

Hi there.  I have an online buddy who is getting into Detective Conan, but she knows how far along both the manga and anime are.  I then explained how even in the manga, some cases come across as fillerish and doesn't particularly move the plot along.  So, I suggested that maybe for both the manga and the anime (for the time being) that she sticks with chapters/eps that are BO related and th ones that feature Shinichi.  I know there are a lot of people here with good memories, so can anyone here help me come up with one for her?  I'd really appreciate it.  I can't remember all of them.  Oh, and also character introductions would be nice (like when Heiji first showed up, Okiya, the FBI members, characters like those who are kind of important to the plot).

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me with this.

If I knew this existed, I wouldn't have spent countless weeks trying to figure out what I needed to watch to catch up. -___-

Well, I would read the whole manga :V Since there are things that seem like filler, that people use as evidence for plot development O.o

AO's can be skipped tho :P
There are some fews that are really worth to watch tho XD

Honestly, and maybe this is just me...

I don't recommend ONLY watching/reading the plot chapters once you've caught up. I can totally understand if you are doing so to catch up with the story so that you can then go back and watch the "filler" cases at your leisure, but... to be honest... Conan is not a good series for just watching/reading solely for the plot. Part of what makes the plot cases so special after you've caught up is that they are so rare. If you only ever read Conan for the plot, you'll be reading a new case every three to six months or so.

That's just me. I totally do recommend watching/reading all of the plot chapters to catch up if you intend to be an active member of the community, though. That isn't to say to completely forget the fillers--they are an integral part of Conan, whether we like to admit it or not. Instead, my suggestion is to watch the first 200 episodes (and manga equivalent) and then roll through the important cases, then come back after you're done. Otherwise, a lot of things will be spoiled when you get involved in any Conan community, because a lot of this happened YEARS ago and is taken for granted.

Hell, it's been four or five years since...

Spoiler: C'mon, you know this is an actual spoiler
A certain member of the cast died.

And that story isn't even resolved yet.

Oh, the only reason I suggested it was so that she can get an idea about the series, and then she can go back and watch/read what she wants if she's interested, but she was most interested in the BO thing since she just started up the manga/anime.

She knows there are filler cases (I told her), but she was most curious about the other stuff.

That aside, thanks so much for the link!  It helped me along too and she was very appreciative of it.

since i myself am only into DC since like march or something i would say read the whole manga! ... at first i was like i only want to see how this BO stuff i coming forth but after i read the first volumes and spoiled myself with some info from dcworld-wiki i just run through took my time reading it, i think every case is there for a reason, however big or small it is, i wouldn't skip it while reading for DC for the first time... even now while reading the second time in a whole i'm in chapter 725 or so and skipped like 3 or 4 cases most (e.g. kappacase, which i don't like, or another with awful scans ), the canon"fillers" are important for chardevelopment

almost forgot... if i recall right, chekhov did post somewhere a list of BO cases and of plot cases up to a certain point

I did, but like I said, it's more so a way for her to get an idea about the series and how it progresses, and I guess she'll just go back to watch or read everything if she chooses to.
