I'm not sure how much say Gosho has in the OPs and such, actually. That may have been the animators decision.

Though, Ran's random nudity kind of ruined one part of the OP for me: the part right before it actually with Shinichi and Conan on opposite sides of the mirror thingy. I always loved it...until Ran was suddenly there with no clothes >3>

Gosho has indulged in a bit of fanservice here and there, but he does it much more scarcely than other mangakas it would seem (which is a good thing).

re-watching that OP, my reaction to that is pretty "eh", I mean it's basically the equivalent of what you would have seen in any 90s magical girl transformation sequence (general outline and a shadow here or there)

that keyhole picture's a lot further into the fanservice department imo.

I don't quite get why you're all freaking out over that opening. After all, Forever My Destiny Koori no ue ni tatsu you ni (really, noone can remember that name; why not Forever My Destiny?), the ending that starts 10 episodes later, is much worse on this, at least in my opinion. That they appeared in the same episodes made things only worse, though

yeah, ED6 is a lot worse than OP4 as far as fanservice goes (outline issues).

in general it is pretty reasonable (bathing suits and such), but the shower scene is desperate revival is a bit much (worse in the anime).

I notice in episode 103, Rachel appears in a short, open little number, as if trying to get someone's attention, which she doesn't. The next episode, she's in a drab blue dress. Poor girl. So confused. Or is that Gosho?

Actually, according the the manga to anime reference topic, the 'short, open little number' comes after the 'drab blue dress'. The seasons (as in weather) aren't very clear either. Not to mention I actually have a wardrobe kind of like her's: some really fashionable things and then things like t-shirts that say 'Genius by birth, lazy by choice'. That was probably just Gosho trying to vary the wardrobe.

Anyway, referring the endings and OPs, the above are right: ED6 is...yeah. >3>

As far as seasons are concerned, Gosho draws what's outside his window. They go to the beach in summer, to a place where it's snowing in winter, to see the cherry blossom in spring etc...

I wouldn't say it's "fanservice". It's art. It's to show rans emotion or rans soul. You see the silhouette of ran with no details and stuff.
I don't think anyone would complain about Figure drawing, since it's art and not meant to be something sexual. It has a different purpose.

Same in this case. It's not meant to be "sexually", but show the emotions by just using animations.
Showing panties is considered fanservice tho Since it has that purpose.

Also, japan is quite strict with nudity (even before the law). But showing female breast isn't considered a taboo/something sexually like in other countries.

I always thought that the fact Ran was naked was showing she was still pure or something...
Of course, Forever my Destiny did kind of scare the crap out of me when I first saw it.

I never thought anything of Ran being nude.  It's not like it's sexual, as someone else pointed out.  It's more so artistic than anything else.  I don't understand why anyone would be bothered by it.

I think it's more along the line of being surprised by it. Like, I've seen anime nudity enough to not be particularly bothered by it (and before you guess, it's from watching random OPs of things) but in DC seeing something as close to it as Forever my Destiny was kind of unexpected.

Someone said it was like Magical girl transformations or something. I think that's why it...for lack of a better word, bothers me. DC is one of the more 'realistic' shows out there. Seeing something 'magical girl' is...just kind of weird. The best comparison I can give is the dancing in OP 30. If not for the Detective Conan banners at the side, you wouldn't know what you were watching if you just saw the dance. With the 'transformation like' scene, it's almost the same thing except Ran is quite recognizable so unless you didn't know DC to begin with you'd be able to recognize it.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.
