Well. I'll update mine.
DC has taught me to/that:
1. Make some text appear that are carved on wood and almost unseen using water and dirt.
2. Inhaling poison or just a little contact with it could make you ill.
3. Almond is poisonous.
4. Potassium Cyanide is mostly used as poison.
5. Coins react when got contact with Potassium Cyanide.
6. Know what direction just by looking at a tree stump.
7. Make fire using a reflector from flashlight, a wet matchstick and the suns heat for survival in the forest.
Being unique is a wonderful thing.

The most important thing DC taught is that Only One Truth Prevails! :D
Sherlock Holmes - When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Conan Edogawa - A Detective who uses his deductive powers  to corner a suspect and then does nothing to stop that suspect from committing suicide...is NO better than a murderer himself.

Detective Conan taught me that if there is ever more than two detectives within sight of each other, a murder will inevitably happen.

Also, in a more serious vein, that you can use a ruler as a mirror by putting dark paper behind it.

When tailing someone who has a partner, but is now alone, keep in mind that the partner is likely still close by. (Shinichi's huge mistake with Gin and Vodka.)

Never so much as harm a single hair on the head of the police precinct's beloved police officer. (Cough.Cough.SatouCough.)

Don't wear silver in a sulfer spring.

The person with the most air-tight alibi or the person you least expect can still be the culprit.

Just because someone may not have an apparent motive to kill someone does not mean they are innocent. The same goes for the person with an obvious motive.

Just because someone has to use a hand crutch and is missing an eye doesn't mean they are unable to be a total bada$$.

@Detective Tommy, your #8 is incorrect. Blood is always red due to the hemoglobin. The misconception that blood turns blue with lack of oxygen is because looking at the veins through your skin make it APPEAR that way. Blood is bright red when it is oxygenated and dark red when it is deoxygenated. This is why when dotors draw blood from your vein it is dark red (due to it not having time to interact with oxygen), as opposed to when you cut yourself and the blood is bright red.

@Kate, Potassium Cyanide is not most used as a poison, it is a common poison, yes, because it causes a disruption in cellular respiration, thereby inhibiting it. However considering that I use it a lot in chemistry, I'd say that KCN is most used in labs for experimentation. It is a common to find in any chemistry laboratory. It is also used for the extraction of gold and silver from raw ore, electroplating (it is a salt after all) and photography. I'm sure there are other uses outside of that. In fact... I'd say that it is LEAST used as a poison. It is not that hard to track down because the ACS requires the label to have the specific properties of the particular KCN that is in the bottle, meaning it can be identified by batch and to a specific locations.

Also KCN smells like bitter almond and it is very feint, not everyone can smell it.

None of these are where taught by Detective Conan... sorry for going off topic.

That 110 is the emergency number in Japan, and that they rarely have detonations due to how sturdy the buildings are (designed to withstand earthquakes!)

I learned that if someone dies and is pointing or something, there's obviously a "dying message" involved someplace. =P

Actually, the ability to smell KCN is a genetic trait. If I'm not mistaken, only one out of four people can do that.

I learned that a Widow's Peak is a genetic trait and not just a strange hairstyle.

I learned that more blood comes out when a knife is removed than when it's stabbed in.

The second is also true of bullet entry and exit. Though different mechanics, its the same result.

I'm not sure if DC has made a point about this, but it also depends on where the person is stabbed, and how the knife is inserted and removed. I'm pretty sure people who watch Dexter realized that though.

Now... on topic:

DC taught me about the phone dialer frequencies. I just thought that was really cool, though the circumstances surrounding that info was.... ridiculous?
