I was going to post all the fact-related things (about poison, gems, bullet speed, etc) but I guess the most important thing is that you never give up. (How many times have they been caught in situations wherein they're about to die but miraculously managed to escape, ne? I know it's anime but it pays to know stuff --finally, useless trivia isn't so useless!-- cause one day they might save you)

Do not judge a book by its cover.

Do not run away from the truth.

Do not follow suspicious people or else you'll get shrunken ?

I learned:

-When a person does no cooperate with your request to show you evidence, you must yell at them and forcibly take that the evidence. You're the Detective after all, what does she know.(ep 129)

-When trying to make friends for the first time, you tell them an elaborate lie on how you've killed their neighbor.(ep 129)

-Even after you've decided to let your soon to be girlfriend win a detective competition, you steal the victory at the last second to show her who's the best detective around.

-Everyone has a predetermined partner out in the world, regardless if you have little in common with that person, some unknown force will join you together.

-Being an absent minded officer is okay if you just show a lot of energy when doing police work(Satou).

-Finally, if you have no evidence to catch a culprit, just lie lie lie until they slip up and give you the evidence you need. Forget the laws, you are a detective that gets the job done by any means..even if you have to yell at cash register girls.

If you see someone dressed in all black that obviously could kill may people without flinching stand in line for a roller coaster you'd best turn yourself around and run in the opposite direction.

LOL.

On the same note, you have to be crazy patient and creative with your murder techniques.

Also, when caught, fall down on your knees, cry and confess!
