As we got both AiCon and RanShin on this board, I figured it might be fun to see what the users of this Forum think.

So again using:

how do you see the two(?) main couples?

The red string's between Ran and Shinichi.  As shown in the first movie, there's no string between Ran and Conan (because Ran isn't a pedophile).

As for Conan and Ai, I think it's neither a red string nor a strangled by the red string.  It's a plausible attraction, but not one that is fated.  It's more that Ai is the tragic third corner of the one-way triangle, ever fated to be on the outside looking inward at the main love pair.

To clarify When I say Conan, I mean Shinichi. There are after all one and the same. Conan is much easier to spell.  ;)

Also while Ai + Conan is not Canon, the Some fans see a relationship there beside friendship.

That option was put there to allow them a voice. With out that choice it would be a up and down vote on Ran + Conan ( Shinichi ),. This way things are much more interesting and fair.

What c-square said. "Other" is probably most suitable for both Conan and Ai supporters and detractors since there is no thread between them.
Regarding  "Strangled by the red thread" for ShinRan, according to the definition on the TVtropes page implies that the author smashed two single people together awkwardly midway through. Ran and Shinichi already liked each other before the first chapter, so it's impossible for them to be "strangled" per that definition.
Even if you don't like the pairing, technically if you thought Shinichi and Ran would wind up together you should pick not strangled for Shinran. The only reason why someone shouldn't pick the not strangled for ShinRan would be because that person believes Shinichi will not wind up with Ran in the end.

Of course precise definitions won't stop the shippers from voting along their pairing lines now will it?  ::) Why am I reminded of US politics all of a sudden...

And considering ShinRan is canon while AiCon isn't, it means we made a bigger achievement than the ShinRans.
