A good example of this is Ending 6 for Rurouni Kenshin.  The song for it was 1/3 no junjou na kanjou by Siam Shade, which, at the time, really boosted the band's exposure and popularity.  Like kyyketsuki says, it wasn't just the anime ending that had a hand in it.  They were on the radio and tv as well.  For sure, though, the anime affiliation did help.

Agreed.  And, unless things have changed since I was there last, I'm NOT jealous of their radio.  It always seemed like they never played an entire song.  Instead, the radio hosts always talked overtop of the songs.  Maybe that was just a morning radio thing, but it was very annoying.

Maybe it was a radio show.  I notice that radio shows do that a lot.  Not the type of radio programs that's dedicated to just playing music or the stations where it's just one DJ.

Agreed, a great song indeed, my fave ones for Rurouni Kenshin OST.

And same stuff happened with Shimokawa Mikuni " Sore Ga Ai Deshou " / " Minami Kaze "
from FMP! Fumoffu / The Second Raid  ;)

Filling the sound track for FMP anime really boost the Singer popularity
