Just drawing your attention *evil grin*
I want to talk about something that has nothing to do with the main topic mentioned...
And here it goes...
I'll post other topics later, okay?
The reason why I started this topic is because I really remembered seeing Conan playing chess once...still.looking wrote: Yes, in Movie 10's epilogue. He was playing with Heiji.
Conan seems awfully proud of that stalemate...Misztina wrote: I saw a picture of Conan playing chess with Heiji, haibara was also there and the chess figures where Shinichi, Ran and Heijihimself. XD It was very funny, not to mention it wasn't even a fanart or anything.
Oh, found it!

Conan knows shogi. (Ran also apparently at least knows the initial layout of the pieces in a shogi game. (1 2) She may not have been the one to shout out that it was the "lance", but she already placed the lighter when Aoyama gave her the "noticed something" mark, so it wasn't to show that she finally saw where to place the lighter.)Schillok wrote: Well, he also showed that he knows the basic rules of Go. And Mahjong.
So I guess he would also know the rules of Shogi and most other board and card games and - considering his inteligence, ambition and the fact that he excels at everything he does (except video games and singing) I would think he is quite good in all of them.
Can't remember seeing im playing one though. But to understand the games he probably played them when he learnd them, even if it was not shown in Anime or Manga.
Because unless caused by the moves of your opponent (such as saccrificing queen-Kazuha on a2 (the field queen-Ran is standing on) it is your own fault if you cause a stalemate.bluekaitou1412 wrote: Why's a stalemate humiliating?
Just wondering...
Oh. Thanks for explaining.Schillok wrote:Because unless caused by the moves of your opponent (such as saccrificing queen-Kazuha on a2 (the field queen-Ran is standing on) it is your own fault if you cause a stalemate.bluekaitou1412 wrote: Why's a stalemate humiliating?

And causing a stalemate yourself means you can not even calculate one step in advance (taking in acount what moves your opponent could make). (With only king-Heiji in the corner there is not much to calculate...)
Basically, it is considered to be a mistake only complete beginners with no grasp of the game would make.
It's shogi from the same story I already referenced. (Snowy Mountain Villa.... uhhhh.... (such a useful title ::) ) the end of vol11.ch1.)Yardbird wrote: I remember conan playing a board game with kogoro, it was in the end of one charpter... All that i can remember is, conan adjusted his pieces to kogoro read "kogoro dumb" in there.
I don't remember the charpter, but later i'll search for it

I remember that episode! I didn't get it at first, but after I did I couldn't stop thinking about it. ;D (Seriously, I thought about that one part for like a week.)c-square wrote:Yup, here it is!Yardbird wrote: I remember conan playing a board game with kogoro, it was in the end of one charpter...
