Well, it's just a matter of taste and opinion.
I got to disagree with you there. I don't think this is a matter of taste or opinion.
Logically (idk why but idk if that's a word) Shinichi and Shiho are more capatible and better for each other.
But logic doesn't play that much of a role in relationships.
But logically they should be together. I guess i could make some points.

1)
On the same intellectual level: I know some people think that has nothing to do with love, maybe that's true but it you can't deny that it helps a lot. I mean look at them. They wouldn't have to explain to each other what fancy , smarty , mathy (lol) words they are saying. They can both challenge each other.
2)
She needs him: Come on how long as she bin in that gloomy organization ? Almost if not her whole life. Who can ever make her smile and feel safe like shinichi does? Akemi probably did but unfortuanetly she's dead (R.I.P). Whose ever shown so much care and love for her (again other than akemi). Shinichi brought her out of the darkness and showed her how to have fun and showed her that she's not alone. Ran . . . she doesn't need him. She's just a normal teenage girl with no problems (well other than the cases she goes on with her dad).

They are so cool, cute, and funny together!:Ok well shinichi and ran
SOMETIMES cute together but they are definitely not cool together! Ok this isn't really something about love, its more why they should be together for the viewers and manga readers sake. They look cool together, the way the talk to each other like they are little fbi agents is awesome. I'l try getting links to episodes where they look very cool together. Did I already say they look cute together? lol Anyone who watches a lot of conanXai AMV's knows what I'm talking about. They are sooo hilarious together, remember the "Is there something on my face" clip? or maybe the "Ai and conan got a case between them" clip?
look em people they are hilarious and there's more funny moments with them. Ran and shinichi (or rather conan) have there moments to but their usually corny...But that's totally my opinion.

They understand each other: Come on who understand shinichi for than shiho? Ran? nah I mean she knows a lot about him but she definitely doesn't understand him. Understanding someone in a relationship makes it easier and less fight prone. Ai and conan really connect they know and understand each other to the point where they can act like each other and noone would even know the difference!
Example!Story: Conan, Shinichi's Parents, Agasa, and Haibara are at this party and they just solved a case.An BO member Beer( go figure >.>) thinks this kid Ai Haibara might be Shiho. Conan finds out and makes a plan to change into each other. Beer kidnaps Ai but ofcourse its conan in disguise. He kicks his soccer ball at his legs and he is then rendered motionless. Conan asks him where is Gin but Beer pulls out his gun and commits suicide. Angered, Conan tells everyone lets go back to Agasa's house.
The detective boys, Ran, and Sonoko enter agasa's house-
Ran: Conan-kun we're back!
Conan: Shit, we haven't changed back from dressing like each other.
Ai: What should we do?
Conan: It can't be helped. We will have to act like each other.
Ayumi: Ai-chan! Come play with us.
Conan as Ai: (With a serious look)... Pass
Ran: Conan-kun how was you day?
Ai as Conan: [I can't believe im doing this] IT WAS FUN RAN-NEECHAN !! Ah le le did you buy new clothes?
Ran: Mhmm. Pretty isn't ?
Ai as Conan: Hehe Everything looks good on ran - nee chan [I swear to god im going to kill myself after this]
Ai as Conan: Haibara can i see you in the kitchen?
Conan as Ai: Baka, for what?! [evil glare]
Ai as Conan: O.O nevermind
Ran: Buy Conan-kun!
Ai as Conan: Bye ran neechan! [ Good riddens ]
Conan: I can't believe they didn't notice...we know each other to well O.o
Ai: yea..*Slaps conan*
Conan: Ouch!! ah le le what was that for?!
Ai: Don't ever say baka to me! *Evil Glare*

Childhood Friends?: Yea..so they've known each other for like forever and even their parents knew each other before they was born. That is .. the only thing they got going for them really . Only thing i can think of. If anybody else got something then tell me, but yea . . that's basically it....
