Why do people hate the funimation subs

I want more conan on dvd and funi is the only one who will release it on dvd in the usa I think. therefore I want funi to release more case closed, which mean people HAVE TO BUY IT. if a high percentage of the fans aren't buying it because they have prejudice against for no good reason or it is based on something they changed for the season sets then I want those people to realize that they are being angry for no reason, and then spend the $20 on a freaking case closed/ detective conan season set. (note this me talking to US and Canadian fans).  

kk I think I would be a decent voice actor, the easiest ones for me to do are Lolita boys, since I look and sound like one some times. also I can do some girl voice well, especially when they are sarcastic, then I can do kids rather well, not perfect, since it can be a little annoying but not to bad, and then I can do some guys as well. kyon is one of my best guy voices, and then I have been trying to get a  henji/harley voice.

no good reason? it pretty much depends on personal taste, i'm one of those weird people that hate poorly done dubs, if the dub was well done (for instance, inuyasha or naruto) then i would gladly buy it.

you think inuyasha is a good dub, but case closed is unwatchable. that is so messed up on multiple levels.

What are you talking about? the voices were well done , and the content remained basically the same, that's really all it takes to make a good dub, you should run back to funimation and tell them that, maybe they'll apologize for what they did to One Piece, Detective Conan, and Code Lyoko.

Inuyasha has poor generic VA's for all the characters. while conan does have some bad VA's they are not horrific however. next why the heck would I ask them to apologize for one piece and code lyoko. first off funimation only distributes the dvds for code lyoko, they have no control over the content. also tens of thousand have thanked funi for redoing one piece (myself included) so why the heck would I tell them to apologize for rescuing it form 4trash.

But on the other hand, while Inuyasha is a horrible show, you've got to admit though, it does have a well done dub. Similar to the dub of Case Closed, they are both great English dubs and you'd only think otherwise if you are too sore to give it a proper shot, instead of just comparing it to the Japanese dub.

Inuyasha's dub seemed good but Inuyasha itself is the reason why I don't think Shonen Sunday is better.

I can't deny that Case Closed is a good dub. But it is not nearly as awesome as typical Funimation and it will always annoy me that the best show Funi has licensed has one of Funi's worst dubs in a long time.  :-\

I'm starting to think my main problem with the dub is the voice actors for many of the one appearance characters sound like they don't care.

Surely you haven't seen many shitty dubs then, because Funi resurrected One Piece from -being- one.  

Anyway, CC has a mixed bag of a voice-cast compared to the Japanese voice-actors (inb4 "OH MY GOD THEY'RE CALLED SEIYUUS" or I shall smack someone with a fish), but they aren't absolutely horrible aside from Takagi's and Agasa's voices.   Most are either average or not too bad.  Compared to the company's recent dubs it's not that good but certainly not among the worst.  

Maybe one should take a good look at the crap I had to watch in the 90s as a kid.  DAAAAAMMMN, girl, THE MEDIOCRITY OF THE PAST JUST DON'T COMPARE.

to be fair, Agasa has the same problem as 4kids Nico Robin where it would work if it wasn't for the accent.

I must say, I think I am the only one who enjoys Agasa's accent that FUNi game him. They kept his original name and just gave him an odd accent, and I must say, it definitely shows how odd he can be with some of his inventions. But of course this is just my opinion so I'll go scurry off and hide in the corner now  8)

And on a side note, remember some of the accents that FUNi gave some of the characters from Yu Yu Hakusho? That's probably why I'm in support of FUNi's Agasa

calling someone a fanboy because they disagree with you and no one here seems to agree with you is often not a good idea

especially when the person you are calling a fanboy has watched the original version of a Funi dub (episodes, movies and ovas). Especially when he has only bought one series from the company ever (and part of the reason is because of his hatred of the dub from another company). Especially when he is technically helping to hurt their profits by watching the original episodes. Especially when he isn't a fan of Funi's most well known dub (DBZ).

I see this "meant for teens" thing a lot.  Now a lot of anime fans are in that age group, but in Japan, the Shonen demographic is initially (keyword is "initially") kids and tweens; they're either shows for young boys (the TMNT and Power Rangers crowd) or family shows like DC.  Yeah, there are some teens that like it, but the demographic is slightly younger than you make it out to be. Not that demographic means much to the consumer, but it's not all too surprising to aim a kids show at, well, kids.

I'll admit that 4Kids (who has been out of the picture of anime for a WHILE now and using them as a punching bag has gotten old now) was aiming more at kindergartners than the aforementioned group, but it doesn't change that shonen is primarily made with the young'uns in mind.

While I don't like it much, I'm still kicking myself for grouping his English voice with that of Takagi's. 8|
Anyway, YYH's accents were pretty baller; they fit well.  For Agasa, it depends on the situation.  I'm often ambivalent between liking and not liking Agasa's voice.  Sometimes it's grating, sometimes it's pretty good like you said.  I guess it doesn't rub the right way since a German accent is pretty much predictable to give a scientist.
