In Sleeping Kogoro cases, there are times that Kogoro's voice actor is the one who actually talks most, so if they change the actor it's hard to figure how it will really affect the series.

first that, then the rankings go down, then another voice actor changes, then the rankings go down as well, then etc...................until the anime is canceled and Gosho can finally finish the manga and then 5 years later, they will continue the anime again and finish it. Just like Inuyasha - Inuyasha: The Final Act.

True. They should just replace the voice actors of other minor characters, if their out of budget.

They'd have to replace a huge number of minor characters to account for the same difference that replacing Kogorou would have.  Even though it sucks, it's better to change 1 VA than 15.

I don't know, everyone is assuming it's a monetary issue(unless it has been confirmed) but it could also be a behind the scenes disagreement. It would make more sense to replace 3-4 minor voice actors or ask them to get a pay cut than to remove a VA the voices a character that can been seen as the face of the series. You wouldn't get a big as a reaction if the series went forward with different VA's for Chiba/Shiratori/Camel/Yumi(I love Yumi's voice)/Azusa because they are not as big as Kogoro and appear infrequently which helps the adjusting period.

This decision seems a bit weird if it only was for the money especially since you would think that Kogoro's VA would try to take a small pay cut to stay on board if it was only about the money.

yeah, even if he's a greedy person (which I don't know either way), I think he would be sad to no longer voice a character which he has, on average, voiced more often than every other week for the past 13 years.

The thing everyone should keep in mind about bit-parts (aka Okiya's, Vermouth's, Gin's, and especially Vodka's) is that they only have to record dialogue once a year at most. Their fees are likely extremely low given that they already have very few lines to begin with.

Kogorou, on the other hand, is in almost every episode and--in most of them--has almost as many lines as Conan. Throw in that Kamiya Akira is actually a highly respected voice actor and there are problems abound.

If they ever replace Conan's voice actress, the show will be cancelled within 2 weeks. I guarantee it.

I guess if I had to pick out of Ran, Conan, & Kogoro (since they appear in almost every episode), I would choose Kogoro. It still surprises me, that Kogoro's voice actor wouldn't try and stay on somehow, even if it meant a pay cut, I wouldn't want to stop being a voice that I've been for 13 years.

I think Ran's is fine, or are you just saying that like as a proxy for paycutting Kogoro's voice actor?

Then I'd agree with you, because kogoro talks so much it would be a shame if his voice changed.

One would think that is such a move is being contemplated, the producers would already have a suitable replacement that can sound like Kogorou.  If they are unaware of the importance of Kogorou, maybe should watch some Richard Moore.
