Moonlight Sonata is one of my all time favorites.

But now that I think about it I'd say there was some character development with Conan at the end that actually ended up having some relevance in future cases.

yeah, and I think in one of those later cases, Conan actually passes the whole saving-the-suspect thing along to Heiji, and then Heiji mentions that to  someone else in an even later case.

although, if you like the episode even without the character development it probably still applies to the topic.

Well, my #1 favorite case is the case when Agasa & DBoy went to that old castle or something, and Conan & the others were attacked, only Haibara & Ayumi remaining, then the culprit turned out to be an old "woman" who had been searching for the treasure... (Vol 20 & 21) MAN ! I LOVE THAT CASE !!!!

And the #2 one was the Moonlight Sonata case.

#3: Hatamoto family case

#4: Matsuda case & Bloody Venus

I was very fond of "The Man Who Was Murdered Four Times" as it embraced and enhanced the kind of absurdity a lot of cases feature anyway, and dispensed with characterizatation of the usually forgettable extras to get straight to the craziness of the murder. It was complex enough that it might normally have taken two episodes, but that wouldn't really have added anything and only wasted time. All this added up to it being very funny.

In the manga, Gin and Vodka. In the anime, someone else.
