Differences between manga and anime thread

No this will not be a "this version of Conan is better" topic. I'm just interested in seeing how many things were added/deleted/changed in the anime.

First of all there's the obvious examples of episodes 5 and 13 that we know about. Episode 5 changed the return of Gin and Vodka to guys who just kind of looked like them. Thus, we never know how Conan learned Gin and Vodka's names.

In the manga version in 13, Miyano Akemi dies because of Gin and Vodka, who were again erased in the anime version of the episode (btw: what could have possibly been the logic for that? I can't think of a reason). However, she survives in the anime version. So, of course she had to die in the series. So they did it right before Haibara's introduction. This, of course makes one of Conan's lines in that awesome episode really odd (something about how it was a case he had forgotten about). However, considering how cases are rarely directly connected to each other (non-linear plot is how I've heard it described, which is probably a better description), that's fine.

The only other truly huge changes in the anime involve episode 4, which gets rid of most of the first chapter of that case and other parts of it as well. It wasn't really important but it makes the case itself much better. They redid part of it in movie 4, which is nice.

They got rid of some minor things in episode 15 and episode 7 at the beginning of both of those cases (maybe someone didn't like the idea of 2 part cases at that point, and they had to get rid of something to make it one episode?)

There are a few minor changes in the first three episodes but it doesn't matter outside of the fact that we'll never see the full "Conan gets the crap beat out of him" scene in the anime. I'm sure that has to do with censorship (the case was done pretty well outside of that, so maybe time was a reason as well)

Also, Ran saying she should be the one crying in that case where someone pretended to be Shinichi's girlfriend was made fun of in the Night Baron case in the manga, which was pretty funny. But since they were over 50 episodes apart in the anime, it obviously wasn't mentioned.

One last one I can remember now: They switched when Sanada Kazumi is introduced. Him being introduced in as the fake Kaito Kid made him more memorable, as he did almost nothing in 96. (but we were given a reminder of him being fake Kaito Kid in the anime version)

In anime episode 523... (was it?) When Shinichi turned back into Conan he
Spoiler:
had to cut open his sweater and put it back together with safety pins.
In the manga, he says, "It's cold just wearing a sweater..." but that line was erased in the anime.

and this is an example of why this topic should last a long time  :)

Also, sometimes the manga had episodes connected that aren't connected in the anime. For example, the ending of episode 35 (the Mountain Villa Murder Case) leads straight into the beginning of episode 42 (the Karoake Box Murder Case). Which means three cases were connected (Edogawa Kidnapping Case), which almost never happens.

Also, the haunted appartment case happens right after the New York case in the manga. (which makes more sense than Ran being sick twice in such a short amount of time I guess?)

Conan used a gun instead of a fire hydrant in the manga version of the bus case when he takes Haibara and jumps out of the window.

In Kaitou Kid's Teleportation Magic, THE OTHERS APPEARED IN THE ANIME, but they didn't in the manga.

This is so obvious I'm surprised no one noticed...

Annd they're just linking this case to the Furinkazan Murder Case. It has no other use. At. All.

Except for maybe the scene with Okiya drinking wine... 99.9% chance that it's BOURBON. :P

that was the beginning of the Adventures of the Great Okiya Subaru's Pointless Cameos which makes it VERY IMPORTANT  :)

it's vol 29 chap 3(bus jack case) conan used a gun to break the window glass ,but in the anime he used a fire hydrant to save ai (i prefer the manga version, conan with a gun was cool ;))

now that I'm rewatching the very beginning episodes because I haven't in ages, one thing that I find funny in relation to miyano akemi popping up in episode 13 is that it's a billion yen robbery, just like in episode 127 when she finally dies in the anime. I guess they did that to keep the anime case where she died similar to the manga case, but even so it's amusing that both times she's in the anime, she's part of a billion yen robbery where the mastermind tries to kill her, sorta makes 127 just look like a repeat of 13 entirely.

I know. I think they should have said that the culprit from 13 killed himself with a gun. It would have made the ending a bit sadder as you are like "OH I GET IT NOW  :'(" (see: School Rumble's ending (although THAT is infinitely more sad))
