His reason might not be total bullshit as Case Closed was broadcast on a another channel as part of "Funimation's Anime block" which placed Case Closed at an earlier slot, 8pm(eastern time) followed by other "light"* animes like Slayers. Then around 10 they ran the "heavy"* stuff like Grappler Baki and Blue Gender.

You mean the Funimation Channel?  The one that was their own channel, and as such they can keep whatever names they damn well please?   :P

As much I would like to say "Crap you got me *runs* "....Sad thing is this logic doesn't apply to Funimation as they most likely saw Case Closed as the next Dragon Ball Z and from the start had the intention of cutting it up to allow it to be shown across various channels at various times(obviously failed). The worst thing about this is that Funi could of just done a pure dubbing and slapped it on their channel if no one wanted it in this form and the fanbase(the one not aware of fansubs) would of probably been bigger than it is now in America(and the Funi channel is a rarity to get from your provider).

Not going to happen.  That rep obviously didn't know what he was talking about.  Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but the fact that he states the names were changed because of it being broadcast is bullshit.

It was only ever on adult swim.  The same broadcasting block that kept the original names of characters in other shows such as Bleach, Blood+, Code Geass, Death Note, FLCL, Inuyasha, Lupin the Third, YuYu Hakusho, as well as others which likely kept their character names but I haven't seen to confirm such as Blue Gender, Eureka Seven, Evangelion, etc.

It doesn't sell well enough to warrant redubbing for unreleased sets where they actually could change names, as well as fix errors that occur because of japanese/english angles, so why would they redub just for names?  From volume 19 (I think that's the one where Kazuha is introduced) and onwards in the manga, names stopped being changed unless they already had been.  Despite this, Funimation still changed her name and everyone else's name in that episode.

Um, you do know that Turner Broadcasting had nothing to do with whether or not names were changed right?

Funimation bought the rights to the series and the people they purchased it from got to call the shots on what changes were going to be made when it was dubbed as part of the licensing deal, then Adult Swim bought the modified episodes and aired them.

Adult Swim just bought a lot of other Anime that the licensees had the rights to dub without name changes.
