Oh huh, I was considering several other episodes, never thought of that one, will be interesting I guess but I can't help but feel slightly disappointed since I was expecting a Desperate Revival remake or something on a similar level.

I hope they start doing that more actually, instead of endless fillers.

Although I'm not sure having reboot episodes follow the traditional numbering is a good idea. Would prefer something like 1.2, 2.2, 3.2, 4.2, etc.

With the amount of teasing they did in the last weeks, I expected something better than a remake smh. But i am looking forward to it anyway XD

You know I was thinking about that recently and like, couldn't they just adapt the Zero's Tea Time and Wild Police Story chapters or something?

Why Desperate Revival?

So what were you specifically expecting, then?

At the very least, if they did, it would take the burden off the staff to continue reinventing the wheel every other week.

Having a remake of a Conan arc episode suddenly pop up in the middle of the Rum arc... yeah, it'd be confusing on multiple levels.

I'd think those would be done in their own anime (or OVA), rather than in DC.
But yes, they should consider adapting ZTT and WPS (also would further unburden the DC staff—that is, if a different set of animators/a different studio was adapting ZTT/WPS).

No real reason tbh, just thought it would make sense to remake it since it's one of the most iconic arcs. And yeah Moonlight Sonata is very iconic too, but if you ask me which one is more worth remaking for the 1000th episode of the series, I'd definitely go with Desperate Revival, especially considering the recent Shinichi-Ran developments, it would be nice to look back on where we were.

Yeah I wouldn't mind if they adapted them in a separate Anime or as OVAs, but at least take a break from the DC Anime in the meantime.

I'm not sure about ZTT as that's written in a way that it could be like 2 quick stories per OVA episode. But WPS could be harder to make into an OVA since it has overarching elements. And since WPS is heavy on Gosho influence I think it will be adapted in the episodes.

If they'd gone with that, I'd be down for it—considering the couple's history, it'd be a nice thing to do. The fact that they've gone with Moonlight Sonata means they chose to go with a focus on the stand-alone, single case mystery—and I'm down with that, as well.
Personally, I'd rather have both (and more), if possible... well, at least there's the potential for new announcements in regards to this remake project. After all, with this remake project, "Episode One" wasn't the end of the staff returning to the old cases and reworking them, rather than simply remastering/rescoring the original cases.

Yeah, for their sake, especially—anime work is tough as is. With that extra time, they could improve the AO cases. Just like Gosho's now putting out a single 3-5 file case every couple months, they can do the same—especially since they've already slowed their pace to match his to keep them from catching up... now, the anime's 2 years behind the manga when it used to be roughly 1 year behind. Might as well make the most of this slower release rate.

I was thinking they could do it like Kaguya: Love is War—multiple files in one episode. If ZTT sticks around, and produces as many files (Kaguya is in the 100s, in terms of file count), then they could go ahead with such a format. I'd be willing to wait a few years until ZTT gets into the 100s for an adaption.

I agree that WPS does have a higher chance of being covered by the DC anime staff, especially considering the past and present relevance of the characters involved—Kenji Hagiwara is technically an anime-original characters, even.

I'm just gonna say that Moonlight Sonata is objectively the correct choice to remake out of anything. It's super old and thus will be the most different just by being made now, it's probably the most beloved case in the series that everyone (including people outside of the main Japanese audience) watched and I think there's some minor things that were cut out of the original episode that could be re-added in.

Desperate Revival's not even the best story section of the series anyway, much as I love it, and it has too much specific continuity (...by Conan standards anyway) to make sense to randomly bring back.

That being said, I'd kill for a remake of Night Baron. Love that case.

The stand-alone cases are not to be underestimated—they really highlight the mystery aspect of the series and get around the potential "continuity of a long-running series confuses newcomers/fans who simply forget after a long enough time" problem, so I agree that cases like Moonlight Sonata and Night Baron are correct cases to bring back.

I'm fully on board with their decision to reboot Moonlight Sonata, for one simple reason: as we may recall in their later encounter with Heiji, he confronts him with the fact that an uncaring detective (in regard to caring only for winning or losing) is just as bad as a cold and calculating murderer, and this very case shaped him that way.
