Anyway, the boldface one is the reason, that, I believe, Ran deserves Shinichi. Just think of the hurt when Shinichi -finally- comes back and says "Sorry. I don't love you anymore." [It burns my fingers to type this.] Put yourself in her shoes.

no you're right!! it would be so sad for her,she was waiting for him (he also ask her to wait for him) and if i were in her shoes i would cry a lot !i don't want this to happen even if i'm a big coai fan!

i would be so happy to see a scene which proves how much he cares about ai,and how much she's important for him(like in vol 34) but not as a lover(as a very close friend and confident, or a sister) cause it's obvious she's not a simple friend for him
First comes first: "Deserve" isn´t a good choice of words in my opinion, it comes from "gain" and when you think you "derserve" someones Love cause you "gained" it in some way, then this way of thinking is really wrong in my eyes.
If you would put it that way, Ai also would "deserve" Shinichis Love, she let him go to be with his dream girl, works every night and day to find a antidote and is always there when he needs her and so on.
Kinda stupid arguments you think? True, but the same also goes for Ran!
To say, she deserve him and everything about him cause she waited for him is an false interpretaion for my taste.
She deserve his love, cause he GIVES it to her (even thought she doesn´t know about it) and she shows thats she is ready to HOLD his love.
Love isn´t something you can gained with nice doing (well, it doesn´t always count...) like getting points or credits in a game, it´s something another person donates to you, the only thing you have control over is to prove that your worthy of it and love back the same way.
So for my opinion, Ran did it the right way cause she trust (not always, but most of the time) Shinichi and waits for him.
Also, still in my opinion, Shinichi did it the wrong way, cause he only thinks about protecting her and kinda let the chance flow to tell her everything and to trust her in the same way she did/do.
Thats also one (of many reasons) why i like Ai and Conan interaction. I get the feeling both know how much they can trust the other one, how much and what needs to be said between them and when the right time is to scold or to cheer the other one. For them they get a good communication and a great chemnistry, something i miss about Ranichi since Vol. 1.
