They should have just called it Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story 9. I mean, I guess there was an even 1-4 followed by climactic case and then 5-8 followed by kiss so it's kinda perfect as is?

But they did a new Sato and Takagi case a year ago so hype it.

are you sure about 869-871 manga based? Chapter 869 begins with Sato and Takagi discussing something happened in the previous case then I think the chapters begin from 865, the case of the cat Taii

@fra90snake: You're a bit wrong. What Sato and Takagi discuss at the start of File 869 isn't related to the previous case but to another Metropolitan Love Story episode. Both cases can be viewed separatedly indeed.

The anime has always the habit to air cases out of order whenever they feel like it.

So, is episode 748 a one-hour episode?

For the time being so it'd seem. The Japanese magazine with the summary of the episode makes no mention of it: but then again I'm not sure if Episode 734, the 1-hour special with Jodie, was announced as such back then.

Point is: it COULD be but we've got NO PROOF yet.

If it was a 1h special I don't think there would be a 'confession'.

Episode 449 was Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story too, but didn't name as Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story 8, instead gave to Episode 487.

Of course not, it had bracket title, so it is 2-parts episodes.

They skip chapter 865-868?

@shinouray91: the anime orders the episode in the order it feels like: it's ALWAYS been like this.

Only if the manga files are connected between them (like the ongoing Bowling Alley + Kid VS Makoto) they will air them in a row.

Otherwise, they'll air whenever they feel like it. The 865-868 case can be aired at any time because it doesn't have anything that says it must be aired before or after.
