If the movie is 3hrs, why does the ad say Friday Mar 27 from 9:00-11:09pm?  I also wonder why this special is not even advertised during the DC airings.

But without the advertisements, you will have an 2 to 2 1/4 - Hour-Special!

Those of you who don't want to read all the mathematical and logic behind my claims, just read the end of my post. Where I summarize everything. If you want to know how I reached said #s, feel free to read the shit in between this and the findings at the end.

If my math is right... and the amount of commercials are proportionately equal to the 2.5 hr Detective Conan Specials it will be anywhere between 2hr 12 minutes LEAST (that is using episode 425) and 2hr 36 minutes (using 345 as a base). So really It will be no where NEAR 2 hrs... I am banking on 2.5 hrs personally. You can't mess with the epicness of Lupin and Conan. Many fans would be FURIOUS with an hour of commercials. I think they will try to minimize commercials like they did with ep.345. But that is just what I think.

If you want to check my math, feel free... (I of course approximated) 40/150 = x/180 = 48 min of commercials if proportionate to ep 425... 20/150 = x/180 = 24 minutes of commercials if proportionate to 345.  Of course there is some divergence, it might be 2hr 10 min, but I doubt any less than that. For 1 hrs. there are usually about 10 min of commercials. That is 5 minutes per 30 minutes. So even using that it will be 6 x 5 = 30 minutes of commercials. With a +- 12 minutes. (more likely add 12 minutes to that time, maybe minus 6) But these are only based on past data. If you want to know where I got that... Each 1 hr special I looked at was > 48 minutes (I looked at every one I could find), so I rounded up to 50 to make the math easier, so  10 min of commercials in total, which means 5 per 30 min, there are 6 1/2 hr blocks in 3 hrs... and I am sure you can figure out the rest. Btw, all the 1 hr eps subbed only 1 went out of that range, which was ep 76, which was 45 minutes in length.

In conclusion:

THE LENGTH OF THE EPISODE WILL BE BETWEEN 2hr 12 minutes and 2 hr 36 Minutes. With a high probability of being within 12 minutes of 2 hr 30 min.

I don't see where people are getting 3 hours from.  The Video Promo said nothing of the time (well, it does have the number 9, but that can mean 9PM/9 in the evening, which is 21:00), I havent seen any Manga Promos that said anything about the time, and the official site ( http://www.ntv.co.jp/lupin-conan/ ) says 21:00-23:09, which is 2 hours and 9 minutes.

I mean, I would love it if it was 3 hours, but it doesnt seem like it is

I hope Kaitou Kid shows up somewhere. Though, it's a lot harder to make two famous thieves face each other than a thief and a detective... in the first instance, one of them is going to lose and fans will be mad, while in the second it can be finagled so that both win(cf. any Kaitou Kid vs. Conan episode...)

As of the time I'm posting this, it's technically the 27th in Japan.  However, it's only about 1:30am, and it doesn't finish airing until about 11:30pm.  So... still basically a day off.
