How can this awesome thread buried down in months? I would love to revive it XD
After reading the latest source of BO booklet, we know that Gosho is a troll. He made Ai and Ran's characterization to be opposed so their fans would take war endlessly.
It's funny because Gosho loves to draw a strong character. Ai is an anomaly. She isnt an typical character which Gosho fond of. He couldnt spoil her background so much because it will force the storyline moving fast into the final. So he creates Sera and her big (and not so interesting) family. Hopefully after Sera and Bourbon arc, we can see more of BO and Ai Haibara.

i feel like Haibara's role is a bit faint recently, i can't see her action as i saw before. when she first appeared, Gosho mostly focus on Haibara and her role in BO and the connection between them. but when Sera appeared along with her sister, i feel like Haibara's role is becoming less important, and her character has changed a lot. Haibara attracts me by her silence, her coldness and her intelligence equal with Conan. But somehow her intelligence is not as awesome as before, and somehow it's a little normal since Sera's also intelligent. I want Gosho to make each character has their old feature, not the same. For instance, Shinichi and Heiji and Sera always have the same reaction and prediction. Ran and Kazuha's reaction when there's a murder. Heiji's father and Shinichi's father genius mind. And now, Haibara and the mystery girl seem similar. I think Gosho should create a significant personality for each character, and ONLY that character has the special, not all of them have the SAME special.

I agree with you that Gosho seems to focus more on Sera than Ai or Ran which annoys me a little bit,but I know it's necessary for the plot.Concerning Ai's intelligence,well she's not a detective but a scientist so I guess Gosho doesn't want her to shine during cases,but only when it's involving the APTX or anything related to her field.
Sera is a detective like Shinichi,and she likes being in the spotline,so she shows her knowledge more than Ai who is a science genius.Moreover Ai is really discreet,especially with Bourbon living next to Mouri.I guess that showing her knowledge in front of everybody like Conan do would be too risky.Now she's trying to live like a 8 years old girl for once in her life.
So yeah in the past Ai used to be more spiritual and melancholic,now she's living a happy life with her friends.I guess it's part of her character development.

However I disagree when you say that Haibara isn't unique anymore

"because of Sera's sister".We don't know anything about that girl,we saw her in only 2 pages,and there are some clues that shows it could be an other APTX victim,likely Sera's brother.So the girl being Sera's little sister is unlikely for me,she seems to be much more mature than Sera,as if she was older than her.Not to mention that Sera claimed she doesn't have any sister.So many fans think it's her brother deguised as a little girl.
Anyway my point is that we still don't know who is that girl,and if it's an APTX victim,Ai's role will get important again.

I think Gosho will increase Ai's role in the future,mostly because she still has to meet Akai and talk about her sister's death,and Gosho planned a confrontation between Ai and Sera.So unless Gosho is a liar,we should see Ai being more active in the next files...
Also we have to know what kind of relationship she had with Gin,so I think Gosho will dig more into Ai's past and family in the future.

It's just a theory so I know it may be wrong...but maybe he's just a very cautious person and don't trust anybody,so a deguise would be more efficient in front of the people he knows...
I just think it's not Sera's little sister,Sera keeps talking about her second brother and that girl acts as if she was older than Sera.Maybe I'm just thinking too much XDXD

Well Gosho doesn't want to end DC yet XDXD.But in an interview he confirmed that Gin and Shiho had a relationship and that we have to wait to see what kind of relationship it was.So unless Gosho is lying,he has planned to tell us what happened^^
