They're both main characters, but Ran is the female lead.

There's really only one main character and that's Conan (not Shinichi though). Ran and Kogoro are protagonists while the DB (and maybe Agasa, Megure and Takagi) are members of the main cast. All the others are secondary or even tertiary characters.

Nobody really considers her a hero of ANYTHING, though. She's kind of just there... with a black belt in karate. "Superhero" and "heroine" were probably used because Gosho exaggerated her strength as a black belt. In reality, she hasn't done much of anything to be called a "hero".

Do you see her doing what Conan does and riding through explosions or being thrown through burning windows or being stabbed and surviving? XD

Does she turn into a magical girl and mix her karate with magic? XD

I don't think she's considered to be much of a hero.

She's strong, she's the female lead... but that's like saying Captain America's "girlfriend" was a superhero. She knew how to fire a gun and she was a heck of a shot, but she wasn't anywhere near the level of being a hero.

ran would be the top of the list if we lined up all dc female that worth called as super hero. that mean she will top Ai, and even Ayumi.

I think Ai is more worthy to be at the top of the list considering she is a scientist who created a drug that shrunk her and another boy into children while typically it kills people.....

Then she knows how to use a gun...
... and she's wise.....
.... and she's involved in more cases or she's deeper into cases than Ran has ever been with an exception of that one time where the teacher was the killer.

And Ayumi probably wouldn't be very fit to be on a list of superhero girls at all. xD Granted she and the other DB have a strange ability to never be traumatized no matter how many dead people they see... LOL
