Shiho and Shinichi didnt take the APTX once, but twice. They had Gin 20 years ago he was neglected as a child his father was off doing detective work and his mother off doing scientific studies. He had a nani, Vermoth. Gin is mad for this now he is hunting down his mother. Vermouth didn't get paid this is why she is hunting her down as well
