Oh, there's support alright. The majority of said support just happens to be male and male  fanwork artits are rather rare. One can't blame the artists for drawing/writing about something that appeals to them.

You seem to be very open-minded when it comes to pairings, but your statement of Kaito/Shinichi "not even making sense" irks me. Your own interpretation of "hints" of whatever kind are heavily influenced by your own preferences- a conversation between Conan and Kaito can be just as subtext laden as one between Ran and Sonoko, depending on your view of it. This is why I admittedly chuckled at "easily misread sexual tension": I've seen people freaking out over Ran and Sonoko sharing a cabin when changing clothes, but I didn't even consider it as any kind of implication while reading; me and my best friend share cabins all the time and certainly don't have "sexual tension". So wanting some yuri for a change is fine and all, but let's not argue about which makes more sense than which when all of these kind of pairings are unconfirmed.

Oh gosh, I'm really really sorry!  I sincerely did not intend to sound like I was discriminating against the KaitoxShinichi pairings.  I'm actually a pretty darn big proponent of KaiShin fanart (fangirl swoon), so I guess I was kind of trying my best to establish that I love all pairings equally (but ended up doing the opposite, lol).  Basically, Detective Conan fangirls tend to be ALL ABOUT KaiShin, so I was trying to separate myself from the stereotype in showing that I love every pairing.  In retrospect, maybe my tactics were a little stupid.  But I am in complete agreement with you that, if you think hard enough, you can find evidence for anyonexanyone.
