I think I'm one of the few people who absolutely abhors Spider (both the character and the plot surrounding him), unfortunately.

Well I'm sorry you couldn't appreciate it, because I thought it was one of the rare times anything AO was allowed to be creative and fun, barring some early stuff. Mainly his first appearance, which was everything I love about anime practically.

Eh, different tastes! People have their reasons for liking the Spider stuff, and more the power to them -- and to you.

For me personally, if there was going to be AO stuff in MK1412, I'd like antics that have nothing (or little) to do with Kid.

Episode 20 was pretty decent overall.
I actually think this one would have worked better as a two parter, though. The ending is tragic, so making it a 2 parter would have allowed us to connect more with the interpol agent and his son and give them more development. Instead, the ending felt kinda rushed and unsatisfying. I also think we should have gotten a reaction from Aoko to the situation, but oh well.

But looking at the manga, the problems pointed above also apply to the source material, cause this episode pretty much adapted the heist note to note, so I think what would have been nice to see is the anime improving over the original material. But considering some of the weaker points of this anime, the fact they managed to adapt it decently and faithfully is good enough for this particular production.

Nothing came out of Spider, though. He was a glorified filler character that didn't really amount to anything. Sure, he served as a threatening foe to Kid, but he (and his "powers") always seemed nonsensical to me.

Yeah I think the pacing would have felt alot better had it been 2 episodes, I actually kind of like Chuck (Wasn't he Jack though?) Connery more after watching this.

I haven't seen the newest ep yet, but I'm excited for next week now. I fairly enjoyed the teleportation ep the first time around, and I like how A-1 handled the DC characters in past episodes. Btw Haibara's in the next one apparently, so I kinda want to see how this goes.

I used to hate Spider, because he wasn't needed and messed with things. Then I started to actually like his character. (Personality and actions, not his role, per se.) And the only reason he didn't amount to anything is because they never finished whatever they had going with him in the specials. In a world with Akako and magic, and where the main plot point is trying to find a jewel that glows under the moon and may grant immortality, someone with powers like Spider's aren't really nonsensical. And I like him because he's threatening, mostly because Snake never has made the best impression, getting tricked and made a fool of far more often, and he normally relies on a group of guys with guns.

...I'll admit, I'm incredibly biased in favour of Spider now, though, since I've almost adopted the character because I roleplay him on Tumblr, but still...

On the Dark Knight... A-1's is good. Some parts were better than others, but I'll forever prefer the specials version.
