then shinichi must be really short for whatever age he is, if he's not 7-ish.kirite wrote: I don't think it's -10 years though that's also a popular theory. Like I said before Conan and Haibara are "child shape persons" and not necessarily 7 and 8 years old xD. The only reason why "Conan" is 7 is because when Ran asked him how old he almost said "17" and covered it up by saying he's "7" instead.

Of course he's not 7-ish, he's 17 xD. After the first movie, he's 18. Afterall- age refers to the amount of time an organism has lived.GabiAbee wrote:then shinichi must be really short for whatever age he is, if he's not 7-ish.kirite wrote: I don't think it's -10 years though that's also a popular theory. Re: APTX 4869

since his organisms lived for 17 yrs but just has a physical state of a 7 yr old...
lol i can just imagine Conan going to a 15 movie and saying his organisms lived for 17 yrs

Re: APTX 4869
But in Episode 131, Haibara tells him that she's 18, just one year older than him, which means he was still 17 then. And movie 1 was released way before episode 131, so he didn't turn 18 in it.kirite wrote: After the first movie, he's 18.
This whole age thing in DC is actually very confusing. lol
I agree with you on that!kirite wrote: Afterall- age refers to the amount of time an organism has lived.

Since when did age become so important in DC? If it did, Conan must be 31 lol

But i wonder, what is with Vermouth? She took APTX 4869 to, or not? From 50 to 29 ôo These are 21 Years..
If the APTX makes someone 10 Years yonger, then why should Vermouth take two of them???

About Vermouth, we'll have to wait to know it.
About APTX 4869 which Shiho and her parents were working on: so far, I think that the Miyano scientists' aim was to really create an "elixir of life" that could "raise the death against the stream of time", aka: rejuvenate old people into youthful ones, that's what they meant. Well, this idea is no longer strange to us, as I just happened to watch an experiment along the same line the other day by a group of American scientists who're trying to have "Reservatol" tested on humans within the next 5 years (Google it to find out more).
OK, let's return to the story: however, I don't think that other B.O. members know about the secrets of the APTX (probably because the Miyanos didn't tell them, for the drug hasn't been tested yet), so they thought the drug was a poison. If they knew the true nature of APTX, they would've used it for more dangerous crimes by now.
Vermouth may be an exception, though.

Re: APTX 4869
I think that actually makes the characters half their real age. Because apotosis doesn't affect age, it deteriorates cells. So it's more likely it deteriorates half of the cells in their bodies instead of 10 years off their lives.
If that's right, Shinichi is about 8 and a half, Haibara's about 9, and Vermouth is roughly 25. It seems like Haibara and Shinichi are younger, but they could just be short, or the apotoxin isn't spot on and deteriorated a little more cells then it is designed to. xD
I personally think when Haibara says "It wasn't designed to be a poison" she was using it to kill off cancer cells, which could make a person live much, much longer. She was also working in a pharmaceutical company, so maybe she was developing it for the treatment of cancer?
I don't know. I guess I'm just thinking about it too much.

There is one major point you are forgetting. That is the mother Sharon Vineyard is the same person as Chris Vineyard. If she did not take the drug, then how is that possible.Tenken wrote: About Vermouth, we'll have to wait to know it.

I wrote that "Vermouth is an exception" , meaning she might've taken APTX, but to know that for sure, we have to wait for Gosho.

You know you're addicted to DC when your teacher who's teaching you about telomeres reminds you of Haibara.
I wouldn't stop grinning as well if a teacher that looks like haibara appeared......maybe that will happen one day X]

Re: APTX 4869
What I don't get is the antidote's use.
First it turned back Conan for about 2 days. (Yes, two.) Then Haibara worked on it and it only worked for 1 day. So where is the improvement?
I thought she'd improve it to make Shinichi's body more resistent to the APTX-effect, but that didn't happened. She said that it'd work about 24 hours.
I can see that the antidote sort of works like Dr. Jekyll's antidote, in that sense that as time passes and as much as he uses the antidote the less effective will it be.
So I can't see any improvement in the antidote. That is kinda weird. Hopefully, it shouldn't be a mistake by Gosho, but I don't get his point.
---
I also wonder about the REAL aim of APTX-research, because Haibara said it is only important for the Boss, others wouldn't see the merit of such thing. Now, it is clear that this isn't about immortality. It can be something like that, but not it.
