I believe she is more of his Irene Adler <3 I'm positive that is what Gosho wanted us to see. Conan is Sherlock. Haibara is Irene Adler. Heiji is probably watson or maybe Haibara is Irene/Watson. Detective Boys are the Baker Street Irregulars. Beika = Baker. Am I forgeting someone.

What I'm trying to get at with the above is that Ai must have some sort of plan of her own in relation to Okiya. Part of me wants to believe Gosho has NOT turned her into a background character and she is actually still the Ai we know. Which means she is most likely active without the reader knowing. It wouldn't seem right if she's just content living in fear until Conan saves her..that's not her character. Perhaps some elaborate plan that tricks Okiya into revealing his identity will be set in motion a few files down the line?
