They did a great job with the animation... or I would've meant that if not for the faces! Seriously, they get everything fine except for how the characters are supposed to look.

I honestly think my main problem is the music. Not that it's bad, but it doesn't fit nearly as well as the last series, especially the action scene music.

I still like the specials better too, at this point. It'll probably be better when they're not doing the parts that are immediately compared against the original animated episodes, because the specials were fine on their own, for the most part.

And they better not touch Nightmare, because that really was perfect as is I mean what? I'm not biased at all. Nope.

WTF??? They pretty heavily implied that Jii is getting Kaito's cool gadgets from Agasa. How would Agasa not notice that his inventions are being used in Kaitou KID heists?

Also, it's kinda funny to think of Kaitou KID and Conan having the same supplier for physics destroying tech.

Decent for the most part.
I kinda think this needed to be the third episode, though. The original chapter (and special) work better because the dynamics between Kaito and Aoko were explored more in previous chapters/specials. But I understand why they put this one as episode 2, to establish Kaito's full mission, and probably to raise the stakes quickly.

Not so sure what to think about the Agasa implication (hopefully it leads somewhere), but I liked that scene between Kid and Jii.

The biggest problem I have with this episode, and with the former special, and with the original chapter, is that Evil McBadman's exposition is pretty contrived, especially how he reveals all the info that Kid needs to know.

I'm afraid, I'm not sure if I want to watch this series... especially that it seems they're going to remake all the episodes of the old series.

To be honest, I feel like some people in this thread (and especially in the spoiler cbox) are overreacting and give a bit of an undeserved hate to this series.
Yeah, the art is a bit iffy, but it's not ungodly awful. Hold it with the torches and pitchforks until something truly bad happens, is what I'm trying to say.

I definitely don't see how this new anime ruined MK forever, though. The manga still exists as it is, the old specials still exist. This anime is just a new addition to the family. Obviously it doesn't have to be watched, but so far they're pretty much adapting chapters 1 to 1 (with some additional details that may or may not lead to something later on)

I'm liking the show so far. It is a bit strange, as everything up to now has been stuff that was already covered in the specials, but the next episode seems to be something that the specials did not cover, so I'm really looking forward to that.
